We LOVED this B&B. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a beautiful garden being tended to by the former owner, Margaret, who showed us to our lovely ensuite room (complete with a VERY comfortable bed, nice separate kitchenette area with fridge and sink, and rather spacious bathroom). The next morning, the new owner, Margaret's son-in-law Ray greeted us with a... More

We loved our short stay at Shakespeare house! We found it was exactly what was advertised. Very clean and well maintained b&b, rooms were a good size and the bed was comfy. Ray the owner was really lovely and very helpful. We especially loved the home cooked breakfast and friendly conversation - it really felt like we were staying at... More

We stayed in the Romeo and Juliet room. It was huge! The bed was comfortable and everything was clean. Breakfast was very tasty. The complex feels quite old-fashioned but considering its history (purpose-built in the 50s as holiday accommodation if I recall correctly) it's in pretty good shape. Of the three Te Anau B&Bs we stayed in, this was probably... More

From the initial greeting this was like staying with friends. Margaret and Ray made us welcome in a well maintained, value for money place. The breakfasts were outstanding. If there is a better place to stay in Te Anau I would be very surprised.

Te Anau is not a place where you are going to find five-star accommodations. Let's face it, you're there because you love the South Island, and you're coming or going from some amazing outdoor activity. When you're coming or going, stay here. It's a short walk from the middle of town, and well worth it. If you want to share... More

Warm and gracious hosts, Margret and Ray welcomed us like family. The owners of this comfortable and clean B&B, go out of they're way to make you feel at home. Ray prepares a wonderful cooked to order breakfast daily, and there are an assortment of cold offerings and freshly brewed teas and coffee. Although comfortable (very good bed) our room... More

We stayed twice for a night and really enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of the place. However, the best part of it is Ray's cooked breakfast. Try his kiwi omelette. A perfect start of the day. Rooms are simple but very clean, spacious and well looked after. Location is good, a stone throw from the lake and the center of... More

We stayed at this place for one night enroute Milford Sound. Its a great and lively place and with a Car very accessible to everything in Te Anau. Breakfast was great and the hosts were quite nice in terms of sharing local information and things to do. The room was equipped with heater, coffee machine and all other basic things.... More

One night in this friendly B&B before tackling the Milford Track (which was fantastic). The Host, Margaret, is friendly and full of information. Rooms are simple, practical and comfortable but do not expect a view. The perfect location for pre and post tramping. Excellent and freshly cooked breakfast. About 10 minutes walk from town and a few minutes drive from... More

The B&B is in a quiet location not far from the lake. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. We left our car over night at the B&B when we did the Doubtful Sound trip. The breakfast was great, the best we had in NZ!
