Wanting to visit both Milford and Doubtful Sounds we chose to stay at Fiordland Lodge in Te Anau. This has a true lodge feel with beautiful river rock and timber logs throughout the building. There were large glass windows that afforded us spectacular lake and mountain views. Getting to know the staff made our visit more personable as they were... More

We spent 3 days at Fiordland Lodge. The experience was superb. The small lodge is beautiful in its rustic way. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable. The grounds are attractive and well kept. The views are wonderful. Beyond the physical qualities, the small staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. The chef is terrific. We booked a 3 night "scenic... More

I am so glad we picked this lodge based on research and people's commentary. It is hard to find a classy place to stay in a small village area, such as Te Anau,The place impresses you in its design of timber log construction and large glass windows. The rooms are very comfortable and have great views out to country, mountains... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in February and purchased the package that included all day excursions to Milford and Doubtful Sounds. The service was outstanding and began the moment we drove up to the Lodge, receiving a warm welcome on arrival and extended to the housekeeping staff, restaurant chef, managers and delightful staff of interesting, international young women who... Stayed here recently for 4 nights - it is in a great location to do both Milford sound and Doubtful sound and the package we booked included these tours. Right from the moment we arrived with the warm welcome form Lou and the rest of the staff our stay here was just what we wanted - totally relaxing with everything... More

We stayed at the Lodge for 3 days over Christmas as part of a tour of the Fiordland area. The setting is up on the hill above Lake Te Anu which makes a great backdrop for sunset vistas. It is a bit of walk to the actual lakefront which we did not make but we did find some great beaches... More

The lodge conveyed a true sense of exclusiveness. Of course, it should with only nine rooms, but it was the thoughtfulness and attentiveness of the staff that made the difference ... with touches such as complementary cocktails in front of the fireplace before dinner. In addition, we were impressed by the staff diversity -- at dinner we were attended by... More

Four of us stayed one day on our visit to Milford Sounds. The room was spacious, clean and everything worked well. The staff at the reception were friendly and helpful. There is good parking. We had a room on the ground floor close to the car park and this helped.

Stayed one night at the beginning of our New Zealand tour. Nice, cozy, well located lodge. Staff exceptionally friendly. Dinner and breakfast excellent. We stayed in one cottage, but I recommend the main building because of the view. IF you are in the area this is the place to sleep and have dinner!

We accidentally called in to the Fjordland Lodge thinking it was where we had booked, unfortunately it wasn't. After seeing how beautiful this place was we didn't want our other accommodation and luckily were able to cancel it and grab their last available cabin. It's not cheap but it does include a sumptuous 3 course dinner and an equally sumptuous... More
