Spacious, grills outside, great lawn to sun bathe, play park nearby, lakeside just as close, friendly staff, good wifi, free herbs from their garden, can get a little busy, closish to a supermarket (Fresh Choice), and good location to town. Overall top pick for Te Anau.

Very friendly staff, free internet, clean. Not good bathroom and toilet. There is a lot of facilities in the kitchen to prepare a food. Shops and the centre of city is 10 minutes from the hotel. Nice garden with tables and chairs.

Hi Wiesiaso, Thank you for your review and for your feedback, we're glad you enjoyed your stay overall. We'd like to hear more about your perspective of our bathrooms and how they can be improved. We've scheduled a refurbishment of the main toilet and shower facilities the middle of the year and we base our decisions off of our guests'...

What a great hostel. The staff are friendly and knowledgable. The kitchen and tv lounge are super clean and organized. The rooms and beds are comfortable. Book early during high season because it will be full... and for good reason. Highly recommend!

Hi Tim, We really appreciate the praise and recommendation! We work hard to provide a great experience and hopefully that's reflected in our quality facilities and popularity. We would also suggest booking in advance in the summer period as this is the favoured season for hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts. Thanks again for the review! Enjoyed our two nights here. Laundry was well priced and staff was super friendly. Showers were amazing. Kitchen was very large although couldn't find salt and pepper or spices. They could use a couple more couches or seating area.

Hey there, There's nothing like a great shower after a great walk or day out and we have pretty good water pressure in ours! We do stock oil and salt in our kitchen and although we don't include spices, we do have a herb garden out the back that guests can help themselves to. We appreciate you raising the seating...

We stayed at YHA for one night while driving to Milford Sound. We booked a doule room with shared bathroom. Very clean and tidy, and the ladies in the reception was friendly and nice. Big kitchen for guests to use. They offer free parking and have a garden area and terrace, plus a room to relax in for guests. We...

Friendly staff and the place is clean with pockets of spaces (indoor & outdoor) to just chill and do your own thing. Room is of a comfortable size for backpacker, bed linen are clean too! Accessible location and it's around a 10 minutes walk to the Te Anau i-sight visitor centre.

Hi Coady, Our hostel has a number of areas for guests to relax on their own or enjoy one another's company but we reckon the large garden is the best spot in the summer! The hostel is only 300 metres from the town centre road and facilities such as the I-Site - but you can book all your activities and...

It's a clean and well organised hostel. The rooms and facilities are what you expect of a (decent) hostel. It was clean and enough shared facilities. (Showers and toilets). It's also nice to sit outside.

We stayed here so we could drive to Milford sound easily. We were in a 6 bed dorm which was really clean and had good quality wooden bunks (not the usual squeaky metal style bunks). Comfy bed, clean kitchen and bathroom and a great location in Te Anau, right near the beautiful lake.

Hi Millie, We're glad you liked the beds - a good sleep is really important when you're travelling around! We're in a good spot in town and Te Anau is the gateway to a million acres of Fiordland National Park, including Milford and Doubtful Sound so we highly recommend a putting your feet up for the night here. My son and I bookended our tramp on Kepler Track here. Very nice vibe with all kinds of places to hang out. Met some nice people here but the best part was that staff found me and returned valuable stuff I had left. Check your room before you leave though. Don't be a pain!

Hi there, We think Te Anau is a great place to stay before and after the Great Walks too and we're glad you liked our vibe. Thankfully, it's not that often people leave their belongings behind but when they do, we do everything we can to reunite them with their gear and we can quite resourceful in doing so! Kind...

I stayed there for one night in one of the cabins in the garden. Our room was a little bit to small for the four of us with all of our backpacks and bags. The staff was very friendly and gave good recommendations about what to do around Te Anau. Everything was very clean.

Hi Albo, Most of our staff are local to the area so they have some pretty good suggestions for activities and locations that the guidebooks might not and they're always happy to help. We're sorry to hear you didn't find enough space in your room. Our rooms are not all the same size but I'm sure next time we'd find...
