We love this place, we stay whenever we visit fiordland. Friendly helpful owners, amazing views, the kitchen is flash, and has everything you need. During the summer there is bbqs, and large outdoor table to relax and listen to the birds while enjoying the incredible atmosphere, native birds, deer in the paddocks, the lake in the distance. In the winter... More

It is a fair way South of Te Anau but a very nice option. The little cottages have everything you need and the kitchen and common area in the main building are beautiful. Stayed 3-4 times now (latest in March 16) and it is a very nice option in the area.

We spent a couple of nights at Barnyard Backpackers - best kitchen we have cooked in during our four months travelling so far. Clean, spacious with great utensils. Bedroom was pretty and cosy with great views, beds a little uncomfortable. Lots to do in the area, a great base for exploring the Fiordland, staff extremely helpful.

It locates outside of TeAnau town center; probably needs 10 mins by car. The surrounding is wonderful, like wonderland. Internet signal is very weak (I use Spark's tele service). The kitchen in the main cottage has pens, pots and utensils you need to cook, but no oil. The cottage we stayed was comfortable. We stayed two nights - one of... More

Thanks for your review Tina. Since January this year, we were finally supplied with BroadBand services into our area , and from then on, offer Broadband Internet. Now Internet access is available via WiFi with a free daily allowance and you can save on your costly mobile internet data. Yes , that was a very strong wind that day. It... More

This hostel is really lovely, one of the best we stayed in. It's set on a beautiful farm, and the rooms are actually spacious cabins with en suites - it's not often you only have to share your bathroom with 4 other people when hosteling. The kitchen is spacious and well kept, the common area is kept warm with a... More

This place is amazing. All the 'rooms' are wooden cabins with ensuite bathrooms, with fantastic views across the valley. Our bed was comfy and the room was clean. The main building is a big, high ceilinged barn with log fires, comfortable furnishings and a fantastic, recently renovated kitchen. Everything is new, high quality and works well. No wifi but that's... More

Such a great find - beautiful setting and peaceful place. The accommodation and facilities were better than we expected and the staff communication when booked, and help upon arrival was outstanding. Cute little rooms located short walk down from the 'Barnyard' with awesome views over the farms and valleys. Excellent location between Manapouri and Te Anau, perfect before our Doubtful... More

Fantastic views of the valley. Ten minutes drive to town and welcoming staff. Kitchen was well equipped, clean and big. Rooms were huge with tv, heating and own bathroom. They also had a pool table which came in very handy I highly recommend :)

This accomodation which is located about 10 km from Te Anau gave me a farm adventure. From one side there are pastoral fields and goats next to your room but from the other hand the funiture in room can be a bit problematic (one drower in the table was missing ) and the distance to the kitchen is about 70...
