The place seems a little run down and the walls were very thin. Bed was comfortable and the view from the balcony was amazing. There were only 3-4 off-street parks and this was awkward for our tour van with its luggage trailer. The road is very busy but rooms were at the back so noise wasn't too bad. It was great to be able to choose our own breakfast items from the buffet instead of having preselected items delivered to the room.
We enjoyed our 3 night stay at this lodge. Our room was very spacious and well appointed. The bathroom too was very spacious and clean. We had an amazing view which was worth the money. The bed was very comfortable and the servicing of the room was excellent. We will definitely stay again. We would ensure we had a lakeside room again as we think the rooms on the other side might have too much road noise.
The view from our room was incredible. Amazing, picture perfect view of The Remarkables and Lake Wakatipu. The hotel is dated and we needed to ask for a few things that were forgotten however we were provided with anything we needed when we asked. One big plus was the enormous radiator that kept us warm, and there’s one in the bathroom so our towels stayed warm, too. Don’t expect modern comforts, but if you just want a clean, comfortable room with a view most places would charge a lot more for, then this served us wonderfully. We also had the best nights’ sleep here.
The owners could not blame the situation on Covid 19 as this dump was being run down well before the pandemic. Outside in the carpark and balcony was broken glass, cigarette butts and broken furniture. The side exit was strewn with owners or managers collection of motorbike parts and rubbish. The corridors were drab, dingy and smelt of stall cigarette smoke. Our room "Kitchen Studio" was musty and very tired. We had to request towels first night none replaced for the 2nd night. We had prepaid via Agoda so could not ask for refund, as would have been out of there "like a shot". My advice "do not Stay there.
Steve & Vicki were great hosts, friendly and helpful, good conversational couple. Great location and view of the lake. Perfect location, not too close to the centre and not too far on the return. Good stretch for the body. Rooms kept well, warm and cosy. Would recommend to anyone and certainly stay again next time.
Terrible service as soon as we walked in. The man who serviced us had no interest in helping us. I am disabled and even when our room was upstairs he didn't help me with my bags, and it was a challenge for me and my partner. The man told us the ground floor disability access rooms were no longer in use, however we saw people using those rooms. The room we were given is dark and dingy. I got this room on a 65% discount and even that seems too much for it. The bed was soft and uncomfortable. The shower terrible. There were 2 lights in the room that didn't work. In short stay somewhere else.
We stayed at the Earnslaw lodge for 3 nights. In amongst very typical wintery conditions. It was freezing cold outside. But the lodge is fantastically warm and cosy. Highly recommend. Rooms aren’t very big. But that just adds to the cosy atmosphere. Highly recommend. Fantastic price. 💕
A older motel style place, a short distance from the centre of Queenstown, though on the main road so our room facing the road was very noisy. The views on the other side had wonderful views and would have been worth the extra cost. The rooms were reasonable size, clean and comfortable. Very friendly and helpful front counter staff
I stayed two separate nights at the Earnslaw lodge. The first night we had an absolutely magnificent view of the lake, definitely the best part of the room. The beds were totally adequate and the bathroom was fair. On the second night our room did not have a view but did have a nice outdoor area to sit and relax. In this room however, the bed was extremely hard and the shower was very short, I had to duck slightly to get under. I'm only 5'8, not exactly a giant. The staff were very friendly when they were around but you had to ring the bell at the desk everytime to get their attention they never seemed to just be around. The bathroom was not complimentary so we decided to skip on this, but there was a nice space for breakfast if you chose that option. Complimentary tea and instant coffee were provided in the room. It's definitely on the more affordable side for Queenstown and it does have great views if you're on the lakeside, but don't expect anything fancy with your room. …
We really enjoyed our stay in this lodge. Location is on the main road and has sufficient parking lot. Room is huge and warm. The best from this lodge is that the balcony, small but is facing the amazing view of pukaki lake.
