Amazing hotel right in the heart of Queenstown. Ladies book in for a massage or facial as you won’t regret it! My husband and I got a couples massage and it was amazing so very relaxing after a few hours drive. The breakfast buffet and set menu is also amazing. You can not fault this hotel!
Let's be honest, when you are going on holiday, you dream of luxury...You always want amazing service and the most incredible location. Trust us, the Sofitel Queenstown has it all. From the second you arrive you are treated like a VIP and this continues for the entirety of your stay. Nothing is too much trouble, the staff also make an effort to know your name which really personalizes the service. All staff at the Sofitel are incredibly professional, polite, kind, and will do anything to make your stay extra special. Our room, wow - it was stunning! The amenities are divine, the robes are plush, the bedding is luxurious, and our room was spotlessly immaculate. There were no shortcuts taken with cleaning during our stay, even the smallest thing that you use is replenished the very next day. Housekeeping is amazing, we left a gift for them to thank them so much for all they did for us during our stay. The French day-core is demure and enchanting, everywhere you look is absolutely gorgeous, it is a real feast for the eyes. We made the decision to upgrade to a floor with Club Room access and we are so glad we did. The Club Room is beautiful and you receive hot tapas-like treats, as well as various other snacks, and a wide range of beverages too. This room can only be accessed with your room card so does not get used by those who have not paid for it. We always felt so welcome and relaxed in there, and enjoyed going each night that we stayed. In terms of location, you really could not get any closer to the heart of Queenstown. Everything is within a short walk away and it is so easy to come and go from the Hotel as you need, or want to. My husband had been to Queenstown many times, however, this was my first. I have been one of the Kiwis who had NZ stop at Wellington.....until the borders were closed. Queenstown is now my new favourite place ever, I absolutely love it, and this beautiful Hotel. I have told so many people about our stay, both in person and on social media and many have chosen to also come and stay at The Sofitel due to our feedback., as they know how fussy we are, and the types of places we like to stay. It has been a pleasure to send so much business to The Sofitel, we know it has been a very tricky time for Hotel's over the last year. We have now rebooked to stay again in April and cannot wait to come back, see the staff and create more magical memories together. This time we have a full week to indulge in French luxury at it's finest. We have had issues in the past when online photos do not reflect the actual condition of the premises, but this is NOT the case with The Sofitel. The Hotel looks exactly as it does in photos, in real life. It is stunning. We promise to write another review after our next stay and will post more photos too. See you soon, Sofitel Team. We are bursting to come back. Tarsha and Kristian Bray…
The Sofitel Club - Queenstown This lounge is a feature of the Millesieme - a French Club that goes the extra distance. The Sofitel brand is up there with the food and beverage at Club time. Tonight I had a short stay in Queenstown. The snow was terrific, but the Club requires a little attention to service. Entry is by swipe card, and everything else I self-service. That is until a customer asked for a cocktail or spirits. The attending hostess stated we don’t “do cocktails or spirits.” The customer’s needs went unmet, and she said to her companions, “I think I’m causing trouble,” after the hostess had checked with someone. Her drink needs were unmet. There is a range of spirits at the Club in most lounges, and the cocktail selection is not uncommon. There was a selection of New Zealand cheeses and three cold meets in the canapes. The cheese has crackers of two sorts. Well done. The cheese selections were not exceptional, but the cheddar was great…..The other selections as small quiche-like green (basil) flans? The further small enticement looked like a vol-au-vent of some sort. The usual description of the product was not noted. This is a minor feature to delight in the product on display. Now I have a query. I ventured to ask, “Do you have bread too to eat the cold meat selection?” Or had one, as how do you eat prosciutto, salami and/or ham sliced? The same waiting staff member said, “no.” I asked whether we have to eat the cold meat selection with the said ‘crackers’ - the response was as expected, “yes”, and no explanation other than “this is what we usually have.” I wondered why the prosciutto was dried out and chewy and cannot imagine it is tossed out every evening because of lack of consumption. The meats are still there an hour in, but crackers are served here. The two or three staff in the adjoining bar were not so busy, but no customer engagement occurred. The customers at the table next to me asked “if there was any Cabernet Sauvignon...” as the self-service replenishment was not extended to the wine selection. As it seemed available, the response was “yes” a new bottle was served and subsequently placed in the self-service area. The only engagement I noticed was when a serving staff asked their elite patrons, “what room are you in” with a clipboard in hand. The service aspect on the return to regular ‘Club’ is much less than expected, and indeed experiences at Auckland Viaduct and the Club 35 are back to normal with spirit, engagement and joie de vivre! C’est la vie n’est pas….…
It was great to be able to finally get back to our favorite Sofitel. (Because of Covid it has been on and off for the past 12 months) The staff were, as usual, were very friendly and professional and made my wife and I feel at home. Loved the lounge each night and it will be even better when the bar and restaurant open up. (Covid to thank for that.) A special call out to the General Manager, Jeremy and the Assistant Manager, Phillip. Great job guys. We are both looking forward to coming back to your hotel in October. Our room was clean and bright and the cleaning staff did a great job. A special thanks to the staff for breakfast each morning. Loved the eggs.
We loved the service and location of Sofitel Queenstown. It was excellent for a girls getaway with everything within walking distance and brilliant service from even before checking in. Fresh and wonderful fare fore breakfast at Left Bank bistro was a blessing each morning.
When you get married in Queenstown, or just want to treat yourself... This is where you go! 5* location 5* people & service 5* food & beverage 5* room 5* to the little touches A massive thanks to Jeremy & the team. You made our first night as a Mr & Mrs something extraordinary. I can’t sing your praises highly enough. Sincerely, Jenna & Ants
Everything was very good - nice staff, great breakfast, lovely room and amenities and of course location, location, location. Our only area we'd like to see improvement is in the rather meager room service offering. Maybe this is Covid related but it was essentially a soup, a wrap and a cheeseboard/ Brulee - very uninspiring and disappointing for a hotel in this category especially with the restaurants housed in the complex.
First time staying in the Sofitel Queenstown and unfortunately not up to the standard of the others. No balcony as advertised. $50 a night was very steep for the parking given the service as whenever we wanted the car it took 30mins to get it or it was forgotten about! Breakfast was chaos every morning with lots of staff everywhere but zero service, waited over 45mins for coffee, one morning we never even got it. Food was very average, hotel is in a great location though and rooms where quite nice
Our group of four friends enjoyed a night at beginning and end of hiking The Routebourne Track. The spa bath turned out to be the perfect antidote on our return to restore weary muscles. The hotel is ideally situated to walk easily to shops, bars and eateries and stroll to the waterfront and gardens. Beds were extremely comfortable and despite the central location the rooms actually very quiet. Staff were lovely and exceptionally helpful, no issues with any of our requests and happy to hold extra baggage for the duration of our trip which was ready for us in our rooms on return. Breakfast was a highlight with perfect eggs benedict and a basket of delicious pastries! Certainly a place I will be happy to stay on any return visit to Quenstown.
This is simply the best hotel in Queenstown. Fantastic location, luxury rooms, amazing staff, a members lounge and a great day spa. I haven’t stayed anywhere else in Queenstown since I discovered the Sofitel a few years ago , and every visit reconfirms that decision. I highly recommend!
