Beautifully appointed rooms, stunning views, exceptional service - the staff at Eichardts' made our stay very special. We enjoyed it so much we have booked to go back in 8 weeks with our son, his girlfriend and daughter.
You couldn't get closer to the full-on Queenstown experience if you tried. This hotel is truly exceptional. Welcomed like old friends by Laura and the team, we felt very honoured to be guests in this historic alpine identity. We stayed in the Lake View Suite in the new part of the hotel and this was a superb place to be. The rooms were extremely well appointed, scrupulously clean and filled with a range of wee treats. The view? Well, that was drop-dead gorgeous and it felt like you could just step off the private deck straight on to the beach. We thought we would never get to enjoy the lounges gas fire as it is summer but we were stoked when we woke up to see it had snowed and then boom! that baby went on and we wore dressing gowns, drank coffee and pondered life whilst looking out to the snow dusted Remarkables rising out of the icy Lake Wakitipu beyond. Words cant bring that special feeling to life here sadly. Breakfast was served next door. Great coffee, superb homemade toast and top service - all served up in a moody and classy environment. Geez, even the Chef said goodbye and 'thanks' each time we left. My only comment would be that the single beds were a surprise. Next time I would ask for a King :) Would I stay here again? Hell yes! I'd push for 6 stars here if there was an extra button! Thank you Eichardts. Hopefully we will see you later in the year. Z & J…
Was thrilled to get Eichardts as part of an AirNZ luxury mystery break. Had not stayed here before but had heard good things. What I heard wasn't wrong - the Grille restaurant was superb and the staff were unfailing friendly, polite and very helpful. Every time we left our room the fairies went in and did a tidy on top of the full servicing; turn down also meant chocolates/fudge, and our welcome bubbles and snacks were excellent. Well stocked mini bar/kitchenette and a very comfortable apartment (room 2). We were above the entrance to the hotel and to the right, and had views down the lake to die for. I spent quite a few hours just gazing out the window from a comfortable arm chair with a glass of wine in hand. The dressing room was spacious and a lovely touch to get suitcases out of the way - the bathroom was lovely, felt super luxe and almost as if i was on a cruise (with more room!) as there were no windows, just skylights. Only quibble would be the toilet felt a little claustrophobic by being semi sectioned off. The staff also did a wonderful job arranging a surprise birthday cake for a family member at my request and also gave us some special dinner treats as a surprise. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.…
Eichardts is one of the legendary hotels of Queenstown: certainly the oldest although it is nothing like it was in the 30s and 40s. Now with just a few luxury apartments and some suites, it’s the bar and its cocktails that attracts the ordinary (well heeled) public. I come here for classy drinks when I am in town – which is not often - but I am never disappointed. The drinks list including many good wines by the glass is extensive and service is excellent. Tapas are available, and a particular delight is their seafood chowder which the hotel has produced to a consistently high standard for many, many years. A visit to Queenstown is incomplete without calling in here.
I have recently stayed at Eichardts for the first time. We usually stay at Matakauri (4 or 5 times) and have also stayed at Blanket Bay twice. Eichardts were utterly impressive and right on a par with these other properties in regards to the calibre of their staff and service and food. The only downside was that our suite felt a bit 'pokey' but this was solely in regards to the layout rather than the actual available space. Once we explored we found there was lots of space and places to put things away. But it was not the open plan format we have become accustomed to in recent years. I loved the exposed schist walls and other historic nuances. These features were beautifully blended with stunning decor and every comfort you would expect of a luxury hotel. Sumptuous linen and towels, gorgeous marble bathroom, superb mini-bar/kitchenette area, WIW, amazing service. One minor negative comment I would make is that we had afternoon naps both days and were woken up by a call from reception to ask when we would like our turn down service for the evening. Absolutely brilliant to check with guests when they want turn down and no other luxury hotel we have stayed at has considered this particular personal touch... but, it would be worth considering asking guests at breakfast perhaps??? Or maybe send a text to their mobile phones?? Instead of waking them up when they are being decadently lazy.... Brilliant stay which was near perfect other than a couple of very minor FWPs. Thank you so much Eichardts.…
