One of the best YHA hostels we stayed in, and we got to know quite a few of them! Staff was extremly helpful organizing our trip to Glenorchy, big thanks to Andre! Great kitchen facilities, very clean and well-equipped, short walk to the town centre. Definitely to be recommended!

Our family needed some clean, comfortable and not expensive accommodation after we finished a four-day tramp. The staff were great responding to my email requests and helping me figure out how the five of us could have a private room. Booking was made easily. Great facilities, amazing kitchen, terrific location and an easy walk to town. Only slight challenge was...

This is quite a large hostel about a 5min walk from the centre of town. Some rooms have lake views, such as the room I stayed in which was a 3-bed room. The room was big enough to allow for some privacy, had brand new actual carpet (as opposed to the carpet tiles most hostels have), large lockers to store...

NOTE: This was from a young solo traveller, I stayed here after Base & Nomads and yes, it was a little quiet. But I actually enjoyed the change. The crowd was definitely much older when I was there anyway... The place is immaculate, kitchen is huge and just feels so welcoming. The staff were great, Loved it!

We arrived here after our long flight from New Jersey. Beautiful views of Lake Wakatipu. Little parking on premises, but luckily we found a spot on the road close by. There are many stairs and levels in this place, so bring small suitcases inside (we tried carrying large and heavy suitcases in and was definitely difficult. No air conditioning (most...

Kia Ora, Thank you for your nice comments. We love the views from the hostel too! You are right that we have quite a few stairs to the third floor which is difficult when travelling with heavy suitcases but in April we are having a lift installed which we are extremely happy about. It would be great if you came...

We stayed at the YHA lakefront for 3 nights after having made the long journey from London. It was in a beautiful location 10 minutes walk from the centre of queenstown. The road outside was pretty noisy but otherwise it was quiet. Huge kitchen facilities and very helpful and friendly staff. We had a private room which whilst on the...

Dear Katie, I'm really glad that you mainly enjoyed your stay at our hostel but I'm very disappointed to hear that you found your door unlocked when you returned each day. This should definitely not have happened as guest security is extremely important to us. I have spoken with the cleaning supervisor and he has assured me that he will...

The room was located in the original part of the YHA so although basic it was ok albeit a long way from toilet and shower facilities...Lots of smoker congregated outside the room so proved in comfortable for an non smoker. Kitchen was well stocked and always very busy. They have 2 parking areas which if people park correctly would be...

Dear Jane, Thank you for passing on your comments about our hostel. I agree that parking is always a real difficulty in Queenstown and we are one of the very few hostels in Queenstown that are lucky enough to have some free parks available on site and also on the side of the road. I remember speaking to you in...

This is one of the best hostels I've stayed in. It's clean, quiet, comfortable, and very central (10 min walk to town centre). The real perk, though, were the reception staff who bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed (airport shuttle? Booked. Boarding passes? Printed). If you don't mind sharing a bathroom (very clean, always available),...

I liked YHA Lakefront more than the other hostels in town due to its location slightly away from the noise of the town. Don't get me wrong, I love the noise too, but I was grateful for the chance to recharge in slightly quieter surrounds with idyllic scenery. Free parking all around is great and just a 5 minute walk...
