Hands down the best value for the money, staff are very kind and helpful, clean and comfortable rooms, nice view especially if you’re in second floor. Very close to town but the walk to hotel from town can be difficult for elderly as it’s on hillside which is the case for every other place in Queenstown

A 7 min walk to the city which is awesome, only downside to that is the hill when walking back from the city. Staff were so nice and friendly, especially Maui! He was super nice to us. Breakfast range was good and they make good coffee too. The hotel is a bit out dated, I would call it more like a chalet motel. The whole look and feel, needs an upgrade. The rooms are so close to each other you could hear almost everything going on outside, heard people checking in and out and rolling their suitcases around, it was kind of annoying. Our room was nice and spacious though and the bed was like a Super King, it was awesome! The bathroom was a let down, no fan or aircon so showered with door open because it was too steamy. Housekeeping left a bag of extra clean towels on the bench and didn't make our bed one time, they must've been in a rush that day.

We booked Heartland because they offered a family room at an affordable price in a good location. The hotel is only a short walk from the lake. We booked the family chalet which has a bathroom and king sized bed downstairs, a kitchenette and 2 singles upstairs. This allowed us to spread out and have some space. The room itself was tidy and clean but very tired and well overdue for an upgrade. The carpet is stained, wall coverings are peeling, curtain ties broken, shower temperature handle needs tightening. However, it was clean and the beds were comfortable which are the main things I look for in accommodation. We did have a couple of issues. One was the doorbell going off randomly and, on our last night, it went off constantly. The manager attended right away and removed it. Also, our door was not shut properly by housekeeping after the serviced our room and we arrived back to our door wide open. The door did need a good slam to close, and we made sure to test it before we left in the mornings. Nothing was missing and the manager apologised and offered us complimentary drink vouchers as an apology. She was very kind and I appreciate her wanting to make things right for us. Another thing guests should be aware of is that parking is limited and is first in, first served, so you are not guaranteed a park near your room or even on the property, although there is free street parking.

Kia Ora AucklandGal88, Thank you for your review and feedback. It is great you found your room clean and comfortable. Apologies that the door had been left open after being serviced and with the doorbell constantly going off. It is great the manager on duty went out of her way to make things right. Kind Regards, Natalie

The location of the hotel is fantastic - a five minute walk from the waterfront, and it's high location means you get a fantastic lake view if you are front facing. The amenities are tidy and comfortable. The only minus is we were there for one night only and our room wasn't ready for check-in due to the busy period. We went for a wander around the waterfront waiting for the call as promised to advise our room was ready - it never came. Also, parking is limited and awkward, but we were lucky to find one not too far from our room. On the pricey side.

Stayed twice in December, Room 101 (I think) each time with a queen bed downstairs and two singles upstairs. This was perfect for us and great value for a family travelling with two teenagers. Great location too. Great lake view from upstairs! Reception staff were helpful and manager on duty (Natalie)? excellent, taking extra care helping me book a taxi for early Christmas morning. Thank you.
