We wanted to stay close to the airport, a short drive to town, with easy access to the highway towards Te Anau/Milford Sound. This hotel ticked all the boxes. At first arrival, we entered the parking lot and noticed how tight and small the parking spots were. After an elevator ride up to the lobby, we met with staff who were very professional and kind. We went to our room which was nice and updated, had a great view, and a spacious floor plan. We did have an issue with the sink, where it was clogged when we got to the room. While we went to visit Queenstown, a staff member unclogged the sink but didn’t clean it so when we arrived back, the residue from the clogging was still in the sink. A disappointment, and ironically a perk, was the small balcony. Most of the small balcony was used up by an air conditioner. The positive is you had a nice view of the mountains and Queenstown. The bed was large and comfortable. The couch, living area, and kitchen were really nice. We really enjoyed the shower and took advantage of the hot water while we had it. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The DoubleTree cookies are always a plus too.

This is beautiful place if you have access to the next door Hilton. No other amenities in the hotel. Restaurant closed. Rooms are nice and have balcony but cant be used because too small and air conditioning unit. Settup not like normal doubletree but a bonus is a small kitchen. Only one restaurant available otherwisr have to drive 15 min to queenstown. Felt like more overflow hotel. We stayed once for 3 days then another day before flying out. Had to waste 30 min going between hotels to findout where they put us. Also No outlet plugs to charge stuff in bedroom. Love the Hilton and stayed many times.

Our Lakeview room had a series of defects. The phone did not work, neither did the TV, the sink would not drain water, the shower curtain was torn off the railing, the room looked like it had not been vacuumed nor dusted and the balcony had empty beer bottle awaiting collection. Having complained to the duty manager he switched our room to an alternate cheaper room. However, this room too was dirty and needed dusting and vacuuming. We thought we deserved a glass of wine to get over this but found that the wine glasses provided were filthy and needed cleaning prior to use. ( so much for Covid safety) Having returned from Queenstown we then found that we were locked out and had to get our entry cards reprogrammed . However, the icing on the cake was that we found that the king size bed had no mattress protector, we called reception and housekeeping and got no reply. Additionally, both rooms had a trip hazard into the bathrooms which could do serious injury for those using the bathroom at night The hotel prides itself cleanliness in its advertising, but this stay was just woeful and housekeeping should be given lessons on how to present rooms properly. The duty manager advised that the hotel was about to be refurbished but this is no excuse to drop standards. Having left the hotel I was given a survey form to respond to and I listed all of the above but to date have not had any response but do I really expect any follow up ? DO NOT STAY HERE, even if the hotel is refurbished because the staff will still be the same without proper training .

The views from the hotel are great and it’s away from the busyness of central Queenstown. However, the bathroom had a horrible mould smell that was coming off the shower curtains on the window side - they are covered in mould on the bottom 1/6th of the curtain The room was also dusty and had an occasional loud vibrating noise behind the wall that sounded like a washing machine on spin - that only happened 3-4 times a day for 3-5 minutes. Had returned after a very good experience 4 years ago, however, unfortunately the hotel has declined and I won’t be returning.

The hotel is in a peaceful setting and convenient to the activities in Queenstown. Our room overlooked Lake Wakatipu. There is a ferry that picks you up at the hotel and takes you to Queenstown. The room was clean, breakfast -delicious and staff super friendly. We will definitely stay here again.

I’ve stayed in Queenstown a number of times in lodge or city accommodation. I elected to try something different inspired by Hiltons reputation and the website information in a deluxe lakeside view room with balcony, with “sweeping views of Lake Wakatipu” and a “desk” that I could work on. The “complimentary beverage” and “daily newspaper” whilst not essential are of course usual Hilton Honours amenities. The multiple restaurants on site and lobby cafe would mean I did not have to pay for the $60 cab ride to town. I paid extra for breakfasts and 25% off food. Every aspect of that advertising is false. I received none of those benefits and they are not available. No view. The minuscule balcony was completely filled by an air conditioning unit. No cafe beverage desk or newspaper. Three of the “restaurants” did not exist or had closed”. Usually only one of the Grill or Stacks (where the pub food is execrable) was open at once. We were told we could not access the Grill on three occasions due to it being used by a conference group. The outdoor fire pit for tapas was likewise closed. And it got worse. Our room keys did not work. 9 times. There was rarely any reception staff. Dial 9 for the almost never answered next door Hilton staff. Often multiple guests waited for the same reason. I tried waiting at Hilton reception but they were busy with conference attendees. On one occasion it took an hour to get access to the room. I was required to pay in full up front or else I would have left. It was not possible to reach anyone to complain. I will no longer use Hilton Honors. The whole week was a disgraceful disappointment

As a long-time Hilton Honors member with many stays at Doubletree hotels in the US, I was shocked to find the "accessible" room here was quite difficult for my wheelchair-bound wife to negotiate. The space between the bed and wall leading to the doorway to the bathroom had barely enough room for her to pass through using her narrow wheelchair. A standard wheelchair would not make it through. Then she had to turn into the bathroom door where there was a 15 mm high metal bar on the floor preventing her from entering the bathroom without physically lifting the wheelchair over the bar. Photographs are attached. How any hotel can justify calling this an accessible room, particularly a Hilton property, is beyond my belief. The breakfast buffet in the adjacent Hilton Resort and Spa was excellent with a wide variety of offerings and great service. However, it would be impossible for an unassisted wheelchair-bound person to get up the hill to the resort entrance, then negotiate the long hallways and elevator to reach the Wakatipu Grill. Throughout our month-long tour of the South Island every small hotel/motel had excellent accessible rooms and great hosts. Do your booking research by contacting a small local hotel; you will be pleased with what you find. I do not recommend the Queenstown Doubletree.

Nowhere to park, our room cards wouldn't let us in the room, several times that happened, the room was incredibly stuffy and hot with no windows to open had one glass in the room for 2 people, mugs that were several feet above me at the back of the cupboard which I couldn't even reach as there was no way of getting to them. Warm water and milk sitting on top of the bench. Had to pay $16 to park my car. $50 bond on top of what I paid for my room which was on "hold" which I didn't get back for over a week. No menu or instructions in room has to use a code on phone which then went to dodgy adds and websites instead and took money off my friend's card! Only positive was that the reception staff were friendly and cleaners, and room was tidy enough. Feel sorry for them working there.

Terrible value for money. Rooms were dirty and run down. Every day either towels or something was missed eg towels from room service. Reception was inconsistent sometimes nice and helpful other times not. Really a big let down for a Hilton and will put us off going to another Hilton. Bright spots were beds are comfortable and Wakatipu grill good setting and food
