Immediately regretted this hostel as soon as I stepped in, but I already paid. It's an old building, and really smelly. I got put in a room with only boys and obviously long-term, thankfully they put me in another room after that so that was nice. The common room is really loud and busy with long-term people that were only... More

I stayed in Deco 3 days and would definately recommend this hostel to everyone. Free wi fi, big kitchen with free tea, coffe, cooking spices. I stayed in share room with amazing view on lake, mountains and town. The manager was super friendly and helpful, always smiling. And only 10 min walk to city centre.

By far one of the best backpackers I've stayed in in 2.5 years travelling. All down to the staff, the long termers, facilities etc. Mollie, Max and Jenny you absolute legends I ended up staying 4 months because of you guys! Free spice rack, blenders, kettles, 2 ovens, lots of hobs. Rooms were always toom and clean. Thankyou so much... More

A bad place to stay. Worst backpackers in NZ. Too noisy and dirty. Foolish teenagers got drunk in the garden and went crazy at 3am, waking up everyone. The kitchen and pantry are so dirty that you won't have the mood to enjoy your cooking time. Toilets are smelly and nasty. Receptionist was unfriendly. She will say hello to you... More

The hostel is quite nice, we stayed in a private room and we were shown two options, the first was the standard double room with the entrance on the main building but a seperate room. The room itself, was unpleasant, we were then shown a King room in an extra little annex from the hostel, this was really nice, extra... More

excellent view from the garden, free apples, rooms are ok but small... just one kitchen which can be full of people but enough places to cook... should have more fridges as they are always full and wifi sometimes is not good

Well...it's cheap. So it's got that going for it. It's a pretty run down, beat up looking establishment. Lots of long stays here who seem way too comfortable with leaving their messes everywhere. The lady at the desk seemed somewhat curmudgeonly, the rooms are small and grubby, and you feel like you need a shower after being in the shower.... More

very disappointing. chaos. not clean. and I've been in dozens of BBH from Auckland to Invercargill, this is the only one that you need to pay extra for the linen. and I was not informed about any extra charge until checkout.
