Bad. A friend and I booked a room at $350. Got there, bed unmade, shower used, one towel etc. Thought we would go away and comeback later and it would be done. We get back near midnight and still not clean. Me and a friend shared a towel, no soap to be found. It was late and we had no energy to kick up a fuss. Morning after, we found an empty condom box in bin so turns out we slept in someone's sex pad. Told reception the following morning, nothing was done about it and have heard nothing since.

It's a big and busy hostel, so the communal bath rooms and other areas are a bit crowded, but it's good value for money and a great location. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and they have everything under control. You have everything you need here.

The kitchen was way too small and absolutely filthy. The wifi is terrible, you have to sit in the lobby if you want to have any chance of it working. Our room was tiny for 8 people. You can’t control the heater from the room, so its freezing unless you go down to reception and ask them to turn it on, then its way too hot! Only positive was the location.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm so sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay. We are currently upgrading our wifi network and our network was down on Friday while we made these changes. We have been doing our best to communicate to our guests via Goki messages so everyone is aware. Our heat pumps are controlled via Goki and reception can change the temperature of these. We let guests know upon check in however we understand how much information is provided at this time so we have made a sign to put on each heat pump so guests understand how to work these - we hope this helps as we don't want anyone to be chilly. Our kitchen is cleaned five times per day however it only takes one person to leave behind a mess to make it untidy again so we encourage guests to let reception know straight away so we can get one of our cleaners onto it with immediate effect. I hope you let our 24 hour reception know about this so they could ensure one of our cleaning team could resolve this issue. Thanks again for your feedback and all the best for your future travels.

The location of the hostel was very good, right at the center of Queenstown. The staff members were very helpful. I read some complaints about the noise but didn't really had this problem during my stay. The private room was not very nice. The room had minimal furniture so it was difficult to organize things. The toilet was small. The sink was really small. The glass door in the shower couldn't work well and the floor in the toilet kep getting wet.

Kia ora Freddy, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we appreciate it and are very happy to hear you found our location and staff to be great. We are currently working through updating our private rooms and we have had the maintenance manager look into the room where you stayed so we can ensure the shower door is in good working order. We apologise for this inconvenience. If you had the time, we would appreciate further feedback on what you would like the room to include. Our private rooms have wardrobes, side tables, hooks as well as a luggage rack and we would be interested to hear what else our guests would like included. Our email is qt.gm@nomadsworld.com. Thanks again for your feedback and all the best for your future travels.

Great location, this facility is suitable for those not fussy about where they stay. I did not enjoy it. I think I was expecting more and didn’t do enough research. I imagined there was the backpackers part and also a motel part of this facility. The room is what it is and it just wasn’t for me. Below is my experience of the facility. The room was dirty and very basic with no breakfast capability in room. No bowls, spoons etc if there were these items in the building somewhere to use, I was not advised of this. The Air con can not be controlled from the bedroom and you need to go down three floors to reception to ask them to set it to the temperature you want. You need to do this every time. The pillows are stained yellow and I was only given one pillowcase for two pillows. I’m not sure what was expected with the other. The shower door opens in front of the faucet making it difficult to switch on without getting wet. There was cobwebs and dust on vents and aircon. The balcony is very small but looks out over the beautiful lake and mountains. The balcony was shared with the neighbouring room. The carpet had something spilt on it which had not been cleaned. It wasn’t stained, it was hard and dried. The beds were comfortable enough and the sheets were crisp and white. Overall I wouldn’t stay here again as I prefer my hotels a lot nicer and more resourced but for a young adult looking for somewhere to sleep for a party weekend/backpacker I’d say it’s more than suitable.

Kia ora Candy, Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback. We do our best to be as transparent and detailed as possible in all our listings so our guests know what to expect. Although we are a backpacker hostel we do our best to cater for our older guests in our private rooms as well and have our third floor specifically for only private rooms while our dorm accommodation is located on the two floors below. We do not advertise our rooms to have cooking facilities however we do offer coffee and tea along with a small fridge. We have a communal kitchen located on our first floor which is equipped with crockery, cutlery and cooking devices. We have signage to let our guests know where to find this area. Our air con units can be controlled via the Goki app or we do have a speedy elevator to our 24 hour reception from the third floor. Today myself and our maintenance manager checked the vent and air conditioning unit in the room you stayed in to ensure it is clean and in good working order and we have reminded our commercial housekeeping team to check these daily too as well as our linen. The shower door opens to the outside of the shower, I am unsure how this blocks the tap however they are very straight forward to turn on and adjust to the perfect temperature :) Thanks again for your feedback and we wish you the very best for your future travels.

Stayed one night at Nomads, perfectly positioned, close to walking to town, cleqn, friendly staff and they stored your bags after check out while you waited for transfers. Only negative was, we stayed a Saturday night and there was a nightclub in the laneway behind us which went off until midnight. Music was loud & monotonous. I would suggest a room closer to the front of building if staying on a weekend, otherwise, it was great.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review, we very much appreciate it! As we are located in the centre of Queenstown we do experience noise from the bars and restaurants on the Searle Lane side of our property. Queenstown is a popular social town and our location is great for being amongst the vibrant nightlife but if you are a light sleeper we do recommend requesting a quiet room on our Church Street side of the property which we will always do our best to accommodate. We do our best to be as transparent as possible and have added this onto our listing so customers are aware prior to booking. Thanks again and we are so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay.

This was the worst ho(s)tel/motel room we encountered in all of our six nights on the South Island. Despite the photos of what I belatedly discovered was a king not a double ensuite room with a lovely balcony on the website, our room turned out to be a nearly windowless box (one tiny, high, non opening letterbox). The size was small but not unmanageable, but poorly maintained: - peeling paint in the bathroom - filthy extractor vent - no shelves in the shower to put anything so just had to put bottles on the floor - split drain cover in the shower - TV that was completely unwatchable (and not wide-screen as advertised) - scruffy paint in the room - no bedside tables - wardrobe with only one hanger and a missing rail - noisy and ineffective air-conditioning with no remote and no way of adjusting the temperature (and you remember I said there was no opening windows for ventilation?) We did complain to reception about the room but there were no other rooms, and essentially (although it wasn't explicitly said) the attitude was "that's what it is, like it or lump it"). I guess the shredded sofas in the reception area should have alerted us. Redeeming features? The location is great - easy walk to everything. And it was cheap(ish). We've stayed in private rooms in other backpacker motels during our stay and they've been basic but clean, pleasant and well maintained. This was anything but.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. Our internal double rooms are advertised as such at a much lower rate while our King balcony rooms are a seperate listing, I apologise if this was confusing. Since your stay we have updated our TV network so this is no longer grainy and have had our ventilation serviced. Due to the extreme heat Queenstown experienced this summer we did have our ventilation turned up to the highest level which did create more noise than usual. Queenstown has had a very busy summer which we are grateful for as this time last year it certainly wasn't so busy however it has made jobs such as paintwork harder to complete. We have all of our rooms blocked off for deep cleaning and fresh paint this May and are very much looking forward to getting these jobs completed. I will ensure our maintenance manager follows up as all rooms should have a shower shelf and wardrobe with four hangers. Thanks again for your feedback and all the best for your future travels.

I stayed here for a night before catching my flight to Wellington. I had just dropped off the hire car so had a lot of stuff with me. The first thing I had to do was faff about installing an app to use as my door key! ANOTHER flippin app. After some faff I did that and got to my 8 bed bunk room. Staff had been courteous but the experience at the backpackers was definitely one to be ENDURED rather than ENJOYED!! Here’s why: • Music was full blast from a bar next door until 2:30am • The room was really hot unless you like the balcony door open with a blaring bar only metres away! • The men’s toilet door kept slamming shut all night long due to the strong spring on the door • Having to use an app for the door was a pain and having to use Bluetooth drains your phone battery faster. • The bedroom door hinges need a good oiling as they were squeaky which was annoying when someone visits the loo at night (room 103) • The metal bunk beds squeaked and significantly wobbled with any movement • There was a bar at the end of the bunk bed which made it impossible to get comfortable • There was no bulb in my bed light • The adjacent bunk room could access the room via the balcony so not very secure • There were loose tiles on the balcony • The kitchen was total chaos, like the opening to an ants nest • One of the kitchen cookers didn’t work at all • There was no obvious glass recycling I could find • The kitchen was very messy from too many people • There were only disgusting damp tea towels for drying dishes • The fridges were overcrowded, I couldn’t store my food in them at all! • Both urinals in the men’s toilet were out of order and covered in big plastic bin bags • Lots of shower and toilet cubicles but only four wash basins • There was no shelf in the shower cubicle and it was difficult to bend over in such a tiny space • It was $50 for the worst night of my holiday by far • I had no more than 1 hour total sleep over the course of the night, it was truly abysmal • The icing on the cake was a snorer in the room Good • Clean sheets and duvet • Lockers in the room (but very small) • Central location • Double ply toilet paper rather than single like so many places in New Zealand

Kia ora Quest, Thank you for taking the time to leave us such detailed feedback, we very much appreciate it. We use the Goki app instead of a credit card style key however also have the option of a pin code for those who don't want to use the app. Our urinals have been repaired and are now both in working order along with the standard toilets. Our wifi is thankfully being upgraded this month to a new provider which we are very excited about! This will make a huge difference in our speed. Unfortunately we are unable to predict who looks like a snorer however we do offer free earplugs at our 24 hour reception. Thanks again and all the best for your future travels. • The room was really hot unless you like the balcony door open with a blaring bar only metres away! • Both urinals in the men’s toilet were out of order and covered in big plastic bin bags • Lots of shower and toilet cubicles but only four wash basins • There was no shelf in the shower cubicle and it was difficult to bend over in such a tiny space • It was $50 for the worst night of my holiday by far • I had no more than 1 hour total sleep over the course of the night, it was truly abysmal • The icing on the cake was a snorer in the room
