This is a sublime boutique BnB. Really exceptional. It's the kind of small hotel I am always looking for and rarely find. First, the location is perfect, you can walk to everything in Queenstown. There is ample parking. Next, there is the decor. It is absolutely stunning. Vibrant, quirky, lush. Incredible wallpaper, lovely antiques, impeccable bedding, colorful tiles, but all in keeping with the age of the house. Then there is the pampering. The staff turn into friends immediately, and they will do everything in their power to make your stay memorable and perfect. Breakfast is divine, but there are also treats in the midday, followed by wine and canapés after 5. Also, my husband is celiac and they went above and beyond to ensure he had his own gluten free treats, they even bought a new toaster to prevent cross contamination! I can't applaud them enough, we stayed 4 nights and I just about cried when we left. This is true luxury.

Hulbert House was a great base for our time in Queenstown. The location is so convenient--walkable to everything, but know that it's up a STEEP hill. (Just take your patience and wear comfy shoes. Also, know that as of April 2023 there's a lot of construction in downtown QT; GPS doesn't necessarily know about all the closures, so consider calling the front desk to get the latest info on detours.) Wonderful breakfast, amazing happy hours, outstanding service from all the staff--it all added up to a comfortable, memorable stay in a great city. NOTE: if you're driving, know that the parking area is tight. Totally do-able, but tight.

We had a great 4 day stay here. The setting is idyllic, nestled on a hill overlooking the town and harbor. The walk to town is only 5 minutes ( it does require walking up down and then back up a small bit steep hill) making it the perfect location. The staff is very friendly and very accommodating. This boutique hotel is in a Victorian house from the late eighteenth hundreds and is well appointed. The rooms are large and comfortably furnished. The breakfasts were very good and there was wine and canapés every evening. The perfect place to stay!

Honestly we can't rate Hulbert House highly enough. From the minute we walked in the door, every member of staff was exceptional and every attention to detail was fully thought through. The managers Jay and Jade, have such a great work ethic and an open and welcoming approach that we felt we were their number 1 priority throughout their whole stay. The bedroom was incredible, overlooking the beautiful lake in Queenstown and the inclusive wine and canapes were extremely well received. With only 6 suites, you really do receive such personal attention. It is possibly the best hotel we have ever stayed in and, as seasoned travellers, that is high praise indeed. We will most certainly be back. Thank you. Mick and Caroline Cronin

My wife was at a conference in Queenstown, and I went along as the hanger-on. From Nelson, it's not that far. She didn't want to stay at the conference hotel, and decided that Hulbert House looked nice. She was right, nice it was. Very very nice. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels. I used to travel the world, five months a year, for work. I can honestly say that I now have a new favourite hotel. And it's Hulbert House. From the welcome to the farewell, it couldn't have been better. Jay, Jade and Martina could not have done any more to make us welcome. And we had the place to ourselves. There were no other guests during our stay. That's pretty special. When you're handed a menu at breakfast and told "it's just a guideline", and to "let us know if there's anything you want special tomorrow", you know you're in somewhere that is just good. New Zealand has good coffee. Hulbert House has great coffee. That breakfast just sets you up. Out all day and you come back to a warm house, scratch-made canapes and superb wines, all complimentary, you're on a winner. The house is imeccably decorated, the rooms unique, and plush doesn't do it justice. Someone knew what they were doing when they designed this place. It's special. Queenstown itself is a great place, my new favourite hotel in the world made it even better. Thank you. Even though we now live on the other side of the world, I hope we will be back.

I don't think I can add much to the glowing reviews for Hulbert House. The host, Jay and Jade, were so accommodating, the local was great (with the exception of the challenging hill!) and the rooms were comfy with a fabulous lake view. We felt so welcomed and comfortable there and would easily return if it were not so very far away!

The Hulbert House in Queensland, New Zealand exceeded all of my expectations. Our hosts, Jay and Jade, were so warm and welcoming, it felt as if we were staying with family. Their hospitality skills are truly unmatched, and I highly recommend that they train hospitality employees in the US. The accommodation itself was decorated in an opulent 19th century Victorian style, each room was equipped with all the amenities one would expect from a high-end hotel, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The location is also great, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and easy access to the wharf and downtown areas, as well as local attractions. Overall, I couldn't recommend The Hulbert House more highly, it was truly an unforgettable experience. We want all of our friends to be able to share this wonderful experience.

We stayed for five nights in December at Hulbert House and cannot imagine staying anywhere else. The staff were incredible, the breakfast was fantastic, and the location was ideal. You are close enough to the central part of town without being in the fray. Each room is unique and beautifully coordinated. Jay and Jade helped us with activity and dinner reservations, which was invaluable. They are just amazing hosts. Overall, couldn't recommend it highly enough! (just note the hill to town is a bit steep so be sure to have some sturdy shoes!)

Hulbert House is perfection: a small elegant Inn full of personal touches like baked treats and drinks in the kitchen 24/7, tea kettles and beautiful china in every room, a gorgeous garden patio overlooking the town, lake and Remarkables and an incredibly warm staff ready to help in any way. The daily canapes and wines and breakfasts were wonderful, rooms have big tubs and showers and both of ours had stunning lake and mountain views. Jay and Jade and Martina welcomed us like family, it was hard to leave!

What a lovely way to experience Queenstown. Beautifully furnished and supplied, Jay and Jade and the rest of the staff provided a fabulous luxury experience. So warm and hospitable, we had a wonderful breakfast every morning and fantastic appetizers in the afternoon. The rooms are charmingly decorated, with lovely personal touches throughout. I would definitely return here and highly recommend to anyone planning a stay in Queenstown.
