If your staying a night at Milford Sound, this is where you will stay, it's the only accommodation available in the sound. Stayed in a van at the campsite, each with its own garden either aide of the parking bay. Bathrooms had heated towel rails, and were very roomy. Toilets clean and also spacious. Big lounge and dining room yet travellers weren't very talkative. The views were great. Kitchen is so tiny and was hard to cook when everyone was trying to get to the 2 gas cook top bays. Also, don't forget the bugspray or you will get attacked

We stayed at Milford Sound Lodge for one night, but I wish it was forever. Our senses were stimulated as we made our way to Milford by car. As we exited Homer’s Tunnel and caught a glimpse of the beauty on the other side, we couldn’t believe our eyes when we approached the Lodge. The staff were exceptional, from check in, to dinner, breakfast and check out. Our 2 bedroom garden chalet was simply amazing, with a modern, luxurious design and thoughtful finishing touches from the king size bed down to the tea and coffee provided. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious and such a high standard / quality. The inclusions of the package we’re incredibly generous and such amazing value for money. Words can’t describe the environment, it was simply out of this world. Stay at Milford Sound Lodge! You won’t regret it!

If you choose to stay in Milford rather than attempt to go out and back on the same day, you'll be staying here or at the other lodge. If you choose here, you'll want to upgrade to the lakeside room, which offers spectacular views of the rapids and mountains in an "indoor/outdoor" configuration such that you feel you are staying directly in the nature. This is the definition of "glamping". The rooms have every creature comfort in spite of being so in the middle of nature. The internet service however is slow. This may be unavoidable given the location but if there is any way to speed it up the lodge should do so. There is no phone in the room so if you want to get in touch with the desk you need to email or go there. I think a phone should be in the room. The location is a 3 min drive or about a mile walk to the sound, very close! Note that if the road closes due to avalanche risk, you could get "stuck" in the sound area for a day or more. Plan for that in your itinerary (ie don't schedule flights for say the day after your departure). It's rare but it does happen and it happened to me. The food was sufficient but I felt it could have been improved upon, the menu was a bit repetitive and with the exception of the magnificent bacon and pulled pork sandwich, was just average. The staff was friendly and helpful. I left my iPad in the room and without prompting they emailed that they found it and would be mailing it to me. Super classy and awesome of them. Overall this was a real four star for me. A gorgeous location, gorgeous room, with some minor niggles that can easily be corrected.

Travelling in camper van around NZ and booked a powered site at Milford Sound Lodge for 1 night -$60 NZD. Immaculate facilities, very clean and well kept. Shower and toilet facilities heated and warm during the cold winters. Restaurant meals were delicious and well priced. Camp sites very private and quite at night. Staff very friendly and approachable. Breathtaking scenery. Simply excellent!

Facilities were clean, there were towel warmers in the showers which was a nice touch. Plenty of room In the kitchen for many groups to cook. The common lounge area was cozy and had some games to play. Staff were helpful and great for recommendations. We did not eat at the restaurant. From what I am aware, they don’t offer unpowered sites, so booked a powered one despite not needing it. At $60 per night I thought it was a bit expensive, but to be expected in the location.
