I've stayed here several times to use as a base for tramping, climbing and sea kayaking and love the atmosphere and the chance to get to spend more time at Milford rather than just the masses of tourists that just bus in and out each day. I was very surprised to see the new layout. The kitchen is now located... More

On our recent trip to NZ we visited Milford Sound. As it is such a popular tourist attraction we assumed that there would be a choice of motels/b&bs as in other parts of NZ and we had planned to stay for 2 nights. We were wrong!!! This is the ONLY place to stay and the ONLY place to eat and... More

Avoid trying to stay at this campsite. They have a monopoly position and really are only interested in value adding, ie packages. At 56 dollars they were the most expensive campsite we stayed on and to be honest you would have been better staying in your local pak and save . Try and stay in Te Anau, but you will... More

The Riverside Chalets are spacious and nicely decorated. There are large windows and mountain views (in addition to the river), and a kitchenette with heated floors. It is only a two minute drive (or 15 minute walk) to the marina where the Milford Sound boat tours launch. The restaurant provides a good breakfast and dinner for a reasonable price. One... More

We stayed at the riverside Chalet. The very very large windows provided great views of the adjacent peaks and their waterfalls The comfortable bed and large bath meant we were able to relax after a hard days walking or kayaking Staff were excellent Would love to visit again

We stayed for 2 nights here after hiking the Milford Track. The room was very nice- modern and very comfortable. It had a mini kitchen- complete with microwave, refrigerator, and even utensils, which was very nice to have when eating leftovers. The bed was super soft, which was amazing after a 4 day hike where we were sleeping on bunk... More

We stayed for two nights in a Mountain-view chalet (#20). Our chalet was at the very end of the chalets and beautifully quiet with the most picturesque view to the mountains. The chalet design is stunning with full length glass windows opening up to the view. The chalet was well appointed, but there are two suggestions for improvement - (1)... More

The MS Lodge is the only lodge in Milford Sound, so it does get pretty busy here, but saying so, the staff are polite, explained all the facilities and insider knowledge around MS. Shower facilities are great, modern and clean. Internet is paid for, but what else can you expect when you are in a completed isolated area 2 hours... More

If you're after a modern, well furnished room at the end of your drive to Milford Sound. This is the place for you. We stayed in one of their chalets for a night, after our 4.5 hour drive from Queenstown. The scenery of the gorge is breathtaking. Be warned though, there's no mobile reception, no TV reception (though there's a... More

Considering this place is 2 hours from the nearest proper town, and it's virtually completely off the grid (think hydroelectric power and satellite phone/internet) this place was pretty good. They have a cafe on site which has good fresh food, but it's pretty expensive (probably due to the added cost in getting things to this remote place). I stayed in... More
