This is a really first rate small hotel. It’s relatively new construction and everything is very modern.

The room was spacious and very well equipped. I really liked the fact that it had DRAWERS!! This is my second trip to New Zealand and I’ve found it really interesting that most of the places I’ve stayed had no drawers in the room anywhere - hence, no place to unpack clothes.

The room also has a really nifty washer/dryer of a type I’ve never seen before. One machine does both - wash and dry. Small capacity, and the cycle times are really long (3.5 to 4.5 hours), but that is not a problem - just put your stuff in, start it up, and go out for the day. When you get back it’s done. They even provide the detergent.

The location is also excellent. Everything you could want is within walking distance.

I highly recommend it.

Located a short stroll from the city centre along George Street, Bluestone on George Apartments are furnished in a clean, comfortable modern style including a well appointed kitchenette and washer/dryer. We found heaps of casual dining options close by along George Street. Also close to University campus.

We spent three nights in a loft studio appt.
On-site parking, welcoming foyer, modern lift to take you to your floor . The room was beautifully fitted out and spotlessly clean. King size bed, bathroom with spa bath, two comfortable chairs to relax in beside the balcony giving a great view of Dunedin looking towards the University. A well equipped kitchenette included a washer / dryer ! The owner / hosts were welcoming and very helpful with dinner recommendations. We also enjoyed one of the room service platters on a rainy evening!

In summary, this place is a real gem and credit to the owners!

We stayed 2 nights in a loft appartment. The whole place inside and out was spotless, we felt very comfortable and relaxed staying here. The appartment had everything we needed even our own washing machine/dryer. We would happliy reccommend Bluestone on George to our family and freinds.

I recently stayed at Bluestone for the 3rd or possibly 4th time (visits spread over quite a few years) and found this motel (with some very high-end hotel like facilities) very nice. It hasn't dated or become tired. The location and the hosts are wonderful and I was so grateful for the lift as I had taken a 3rd floor room and had a lot of luggage.

The rooms, and indeed the whole property, are really well appointed and the tariffs represent great value for money. I did have an issue during this stay however which would give me pause before considering staying here again. This had not been an issue the previous 2 times I stayed here but, this time, I had a major noise issue.

I was in Room 301 (there are 4 floors) and, unfortunately was subjected to a lot of loud thudding from about 7am onwards each day of my 4 day stay. It wasn't all day (I wasn't in my room all day) but it was persistent enough during the times I was there to be a problem.

I believe that the person in the room directly above me must have been somewhat 'heavy' footed. Either that or I was too close to the utility area of the motel (lifts etc). Despite a complaint the issue did remain unresolved and I do understand the nature of the issue was such that it may not be easily resolved because we couldn't determine the source of the noise. I am well acquainted with elevator noise (lots and lots of night shifts in various hospitals over the years) and it definitely wasn't that.

Either way...if I stay again I would probably opt for the 4th Floor and/or a room well away from the 'main block'. I would have gone for a 4th floor room this time but the furnishing arrangements weren't as nice (2 arm chairs instead of a 2 seater couch).

Absolutely immaculate. Beautiful, high quality furnishings and very tasteful rooms. Lots of thoughtful details; nothing has been overlooked. The owners are clearly working extremely hard to run first-rate accommodation. We appreciated the in-room washing machine with detergent provided, and being able to borrow a rack for drying. Sound-proofing between rooms seemed excellent. Parking was easy, with a shortish walk to Dunedin's facilities. Outstanding, and recommended without hesitation.

Lovely apartment with city views.

Positives:
Easy free off-street parking
Great location – can walk to the centre
Clean and comfortable
Lovely staff
Very well-maintained grounds
Underfloor heating was great
Fully equipped kitchen
11 am check out

Negatives:
The light outside in the courtyard was on all night and the curtains were not great.
The shower head provided a high-pressure mist and was too short, meaning you had to stand on the rounded edge of the bath to be under the shower.

Bluestone on George is in a great location walking distance to the centre of town. The room was well laid out, plenty of space, very clean and with a good selection of amenities. Parking is on-site and there were adequate spaces despite the hotel being full.

Heated bathroom floors, gym on site, washing machine & dryer in our room, toaster and kettle, fridge, Sky TV service, quick Wi-Fi, electric blankets, big balcony and outdoor areas, parking. LOVED this hotel! Not only are the owners friendly and knowledgable about the area but it's obvious they take great pride in their property. The grounds are so well thought out and presented - not even a leaf was out of place! This was by far the cleanest accommodation we've ever stayed in.

My husband and I are a couple in our mid-40s and we stayed in a loft studio apartment on the 4th floor for 2 nights. (The view from our balcony and the privacy was worth that little bit extra.)

Our room was very bright and modern. We had a large selection of pillows to choose from and the bed was super comfy. The double spa tub and the shower's water pressure - outstanding. It felt like a bit of a retreat to us :)

The location was perfect for us. Within walking distance of the CBD (about 15 minutes to the Octagon) and about a 10 minute walk in the other direction to the University grounds. We also walked to the Botanic Gardens one morning which took about 25 minutes. We found it to be a good starting point for our drive to the Otago Peninsula as well. It took us less than 1 hour to reach the Albatross Colony and it's about a 10 minute drive to St. Clair Beach.

Great value for money and we would definitely consider staying here again in the future. Highly recommend :)

Does the Loft apartment have a separate shower and is the bedroom on a different level than lounge area?
Answer from Priorityclean
Dunedin, New Zealand2 contributions1 helpful vote
Hello Julie Thank you for your query. All our rooms are studio apartments - which means the bed, seating area and kitchenette are all in the one space with an ensuite bathroom. It is all on the one level. On our web site you will see a room layout plan if that would be of some help? There is a lovely deep double spa bath in the bathroom with the shower over. I hope this helps. Kind Regards Sandra Butcher

Answer from Priorityclean

Thank you for your query. All our rooms have excellent heating for our cool climate along with opening windows for air flow and of course bathroom fans for extraction so there is no air conditioning installed in the rooms. I hope this is of some help? Kind Regards Sandra Butcher

Is there a laundry room?
Answer from Priorityclean
Dunedin, New Zealand2 contributions1 helpful vote
Thank you for your enquiry. There is no laundry room as each room has a 4kg washer/dryer combo which gives you the ability to put a load of washing on before leaving to enjoy your day's activities and it will be washed and dried for your return. Laundry detergent is provided also in the room. Of course if you prefer to dry your clothes naturally we have drying racks and there is also a heated towel rail in the bathroom. I hope this is of some help. Kind Regards Sandra Butcher
