Well presented, quiet place for lunch or a coffee. Great prices and the soup I had was delic! The scone was a bit so/so but there was heaps of butter to go with it. Great to see its open Mondays too when most places in Brighton are closed. Will be back.

Stayed there for two nights and that was enough. Overall hostel is a little aged which is fine, but kitchen and bathrooms were smelly and dirty. (Yes i know it's how someone else left it..) Wifi was limited and ran out first day. Woke up every night for seagulls screaming behind the window. Hostel wasn't social at all and connecting with others wasn't easy. Location is okay if you want to stay further from city and close to beach, but evenings that area is sketchy. Yes I managed to sleep there, but I wouldn't come back. Same price you will get so much better in so much better place!

Very poor maintenance of the hostel, all of the rooms stink, the kitchen is messy, dirty and we had to re-wash the plates and utensil in order to use them for us. If you have heavy bags to carry, it is very inconvenient because there are about 15-20 stairs lead you to the second floor where the rooms are. The hostel is situated very far away either from the city center and the airport (20 km), so if you are without a vehicle it will be very difficult for you to go easily there. It doesn't deserve to spend money for this hostel. If you are able to spend a bit more money for a hostel near the city center, do NOT hesitate to give them for!

Thank you for your review. Our building is of the older variety. We are refurbishing as funds allow. We have a very cheap and reliable bus service from the hostel to the city. The kitchen is only as clean as the last person left it. The kitchen gets cleaned twice a day. I hope the rest of your holiday was to your expectations The Point Break Team

I have had brunch at multiple cafes across Christchurch and just when I thought nobody could do worse than Speights Ale House Ferrymead, along came point break cafe. After waiting for them to pop out and buy the bacon we waited a tremendous time for our eggs benedict. The eggs were microwaved and rubbery, the bacon was the cheapest possible option and the eyelash in mine just topped off the whole experience. The only saving grace was the hollandaise sauce was actually really tasty. I would never return to this cafe and would rather go horse riding with a bad case of hemorrhoids.

We are sorry that you did not enjoy your meal at our cafe. We try to provide the best possible service and products and we are sorry to hear that this was not the case with your visit. I can assure you that all meals are prepared fresh and as fast as possible and that we do not microwave our eggs, as we agree that they cause them to be rubbery. If you had advised the staff member on duty of the issues you had with the meal we would have replaced them or corrected the issue in the most suitable way.

I don't recommend this hostel at all it was grubby and strange and too far from anything in a odd part of the city where there is nothing to do if you don't have a car you are stuck there. The reception staff were rude and uninviting.

We are sorry to hear that you did not like our backpackers. We try to be friendly to every guest. We are close to the beach, there is an excellent bus service to most destinations in the city and New Brighton has many unique shops. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your travels.
