A fantastic Motel with excellent facilities and great managers Kate & Matt who looked after us during Lock Down. Lockdown occurred during our visit to New Zealand and we were fortunate enough to be staying at Merivale at the time. Both being over 70 we were not permitted to go to the shops so for 5 weeks Matt and Kate kindly shopped for us. They welcomed us with open arms providing us with some home comforts and just couldn’t do enough for us. We can’t thank them and rate the facilities highly enough, although excited to be able to come back to the UK we were sad to leave and are missing their socially distanced company. We stayed twice on our tour of the South Island, the first time in one of the lovely motel rooms. Matt our host was very pleasant and helpful. On our return to Christchurch we were upgraded to the Manor House which was an unexpected treat. This is such a lovely house, you can visit some of the upstairs anyway to view the library but the ground floor apartment is just amazing; and made even nicer by the great service. Highly recommended for a stay in Christchurch.
Made so welcome by Kate, a beautiful old home, turned in to seperate apartments and studios. Very Olde Worlde but just lovely, easy walk to a number of hotels, restaurants etc and a great little shopping mall just up the road. Just a lovely feel to this place, so glad we booked here, when back in Christchurch would definitely stay here again
Spent 3 nights at this wonderful hotel with wonderful owners! Kate and Matt were most helpful with all our needs including great restaurant and activity recommendations! Close to downtown Christchurch! A truly wonderful experience and a hotel I highly recommend!
Tough to beat the staff- Matt, Kate, and fill in guy....sorry I'm blanking on his name at the moment. Clean, comfortable, quiet, reasonable prices, but the staff of Kate and Matt really were fantastic! We were travelling with friends and everyone was very impressed with this booking and how friendly staff was from the moment we arrived. I had done the booking through Trip Advisor for our group so it was great that it turned out to be so good. Everyone found the rooms comfortable, and clean. Here is a specific example of how the staff goes above and beyond- My buddy and I were playing a game of cards outside on the side of the house when Matt comes by to ask if was okay for him to run a leaf blower on the front and opposite side of the house due to the noise it was going to make! I've never had someone who needed to do landscaping ask if it was okay for them to go to work...ever!! Kate was equally hospitable and helping us with things like suggestions on where to stop for a coffee on our way to Mt. Aoraki (Cook)- So glad we took her advice on that as well. From the fresh cream in the fridge for coffee, to chocolates on the night stand it was really a relaxing place to stay in Christchurch. Town is close enough to walk if your in the tourist mode (about 20 min), bus stop right in front of the place is you'd rather do that, or drive (5 min). Bikes were available to borrow as well. Friendly staff are what really make a difference and this is a place we'll stay if we can make it back to Christchurch.…
