We stayed here overnight on a trip to Christchurch and we were the only people there! The building itself is very impressive and the room was warm, comfortable and quiet with no street noise. The shower was excellent too. However, for what it was it was very overpriced. There are little things that make a big difference when the cost hits the $200 mark and Eliza's has lost their way a bit. Perhaps the owners are hands off or stuck overseas? Our experience of similarity priced hotels has been that the coffee and tea facilities are luxury, interesting brands, coffee machines etc. Unfortunately Eliza's had the same generic brands that we got at our previous $100 night hotel. We didn't watch the TV, and it was quite small, but honestly in a hotel like this there's no need for a TV in the room. Some interesting books or board games available in the guest lounge insteadwould have been great. Which leads me to the fact that the guest lounge and bar were shut almost as soon as we arrived (open to midnight according to the guest info). We didn't want to stop for a drink, but it was unwelcoming and not the standard we'd expect. The decor is a bit haphazard and some of it wasn't in keeping with the era - Flatpack furniture in the bathroom. I'm not sure why Eliza's. A name of one of the previous owners would make more sense. Other little things like the rubbish bins being left out the front, the need to repaint the building and the office having paperwork stuck in the window (first thing you see by the front door) gave the appearance of neglect and having lost their way. We wondered if it had been trained into a hostel. I'm sure the owners are very nice but it might be time for a new direction.

This is a beautiful old house, with a central staircase built of kauri wood and huge rooms. My wife reported that the bed was the best of our trip so far! As was the muesli at breakfast. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the hotel is located not far from the city centre. A fantastic place to stay!

We stayed here just one night after a marathon travel day. They were very responsive and helpful in our planning and absolutely wonderful when we arrived. They got us checked in early, had a great on-site lunch option and got us oriented to Christchurch. Well located from airport and to downtown and truly gracious hospitality. If you have room choice, can recommend both rooms 4 and 5 (where our friends stayed). Great bathtubs! We had time only for breakfast before heading out, but the breakfast was delicious and gracefully served. Highly recommend!

We visited as a family for High Tea. Casey was hospitable and knowledgeable. She clearly loves her work and we felt very welcome. The food was lovely - fresh and with all the old favourites. There was plenty and we felt it was great value for the experience.

Had a great afternoon at Eliza's Manor Hotel. High tea for my wifes birthday and family of 12. Tea and presentation was great, great setting, extremely helpful and cheery staff, so much food they offered to box the ones we couldn't manage to eat. The assistant manager was fantastic. Would definitely recommend this venue. Thank you
