Whether you’re punting along the Avon River, exploring the cultural precinct, sampling local delights at the Riverside Market or venturing into the nearby Southern Alps, Christchurch is a city that offers adventure and charm in equal measure. A stay in the Adina Heritage Christchurch on Cathedral Square puts you in the heart of modern Christchurch and offers a glimpse into its past. The hotel, constructed in the Italian High Renaissance Palazzo style, is listed as a building of national significance whilst mod cons include OGB - a brilliant speakeasy bar, heated indoor lap pool, gym, spa, and sauna.

What a wonderful place. Lovely rooms. We had the two bedroom and you couldn’t fault it. Cleaned everyday and we met the cleaners and they are so lovely. Everyone was really nice. We couldn’t fault it. Close to everything very quiet at night. We will def stay there again.

The Hotel is in a great location and within easy walking distance to CBD area of Christchurch, restaurants, cafes, library etc and directly across the road from the Heritage Tram stop/ticket office. The Hotel, although in the CBD is very quiet. The ambience of the Hotel is amazing with a bar/restaurant out front on the street if you are after a drink or meal. The rooms were clean and tidy, well appointed with all kitchen utensils necessary and the bathroom contains laundry facilities. The staff were amazing and proved themselves when we had an issue with the oven not working. Staff were quick to our room to deal with said problem and offered options when they could not get it working for us. The bed was comfortable and pillows acceptable. The only negative is that although there is a ceiling fan in the room we found that it was useless in maintaining a cool temperature in the room, the room became quiet hot and this was in August.

The Heritage suites are well above average in space and style. The renovated Government Building has old-world charm and is a very pleasant change from most newer hotels. It has a nice bar and a restaurant. We had a comfortable bed and good linens. A bit of updating could add to the experience: a walk in shower instead of a bathtub shower and a few more power outlets or USB outlets in the seating and dining areas. We didn't use all the facilities but our suite was extremely well equipped with kitchen appliances and clothes washer and dryer! It was a pleasure to stay there for its style, amenities and great location near restaurants in the core of the city.

A central city hotel with beautiful character and steeped in history. We found it was much cheaper booking direct. While my husband loved it, I did find the pub downstairs was a little noisey for me but to be expected in the city centre. On the plus side there is not much noise after midnight.

Valet parking at $20 per night is well worth the money and the tram nearby made it easy to hop and off at different parts around town such as the River Markets.

We ate dinner at the OGB (attached to the Heritage) and then the next day High Tea at the nearby gumption restaurant (part of Distinction Hotel). Dinner was a typical pub meal and hoot the spot nicely. Gumption was my favourite, and I loved the High Tea - highly recommended.

Remember it is an older style building, so it has charm and is a bit of an old soul. The pool was fabulous and the gym very big.

Great place to stay that is central, good value and has a rich history attached. I look forward to the Cathedral being finished. Once that is complete it will only add to the experience.

The decor on the outside is very appealing to the eye however, the rooms are very outdated. The fridge in my room made a constant bang noise every three hours. The curtains do not block out any light and if you have a room facing towards the car park building you can hear all the noise from the cars throughout the night. The room doesn't have any aircon apart from an old fan. The couch in the room also had a couple of stains. The restaurant doesn't have buffet so very limited selection. I went for a swim once and only stayed in the pool for a limited time when I saw the amount of grime in the pool and could feel it on the bottom of my feet. I also used the gym, and a lot of the equipment is squeaking due to rust. On a positive note, the large bed was comfy, and the location is great for walking distance to many attractions.

My partner & I thoroughly enjoyed a night at The Heritage Hotel Christchurch as a way to celebrate my special birthday. We chose the Heritage due to it's history & consequent ambience. We loved being able to relax with a swim in the lap pool followed by a soak in the jacuzzi before heading out for a meal and show. We did the same in the morning - such a great way to start the day.
The check in was efficient and friendly, the hotel suite roomy, clean and with everything we needed. We appreciated the Goody Bag which made it easy to take with us the half used shampoo, body wash etc when we left. Thank you Heritage Hotel for a relaxing stay.

Yuck!!
From the moment we arrived and we had to carry out bags up stairs to reception through the middle of a bar/ restaurant I was NOT impressed and I was thinking what if you were disable how the f@&k do u get into the place!!!!🤬
No one came to help either.
Check in lady wasn’t friendly either I want to leave right t there and check in over the road but she told me it would cost me two nights 🤬
Nothing like the reviews and photos online
The building is beautiful don’t get me wrong and to get to your room I left like I was walking through a government building
The furniture was OLD with stains on the chairs etc the couch was torn and ripped. The room smelt.
It was hodge podge of tile, carpet that had never been cleaned, and basically old.
Now I get it the bulging is old BUT u can update furnishings etc.
The room had potential it was big upstairs and downstairs, it had a washer and dryer, which when on kept tripping the main power switch🙈
It is close and right in the city you can walk to everything but for the PRICE sharp around.
There are quest apartments close which maybe a better option.
We ended up leaving after our mandatory time to the Distinction hotel nextdoor in a standard room no washer and dryer or kitchen etc as we didn’t want to be at the Heritage anymore
Buyer beware

The building itself is jaw-dropping. To have such architecture and beautiful interiors survive the earthquake is amazing. You are made to fell truly pampered with wide hallways and high ceilings showing architectural details that rival any 5 star accommodation elsewhere. The double stairway overlooked by stained glass windows showing Scottish emblems makes you forego the elevators. The only caveat for us was the toilets which were a bit fussy to flush, but we figured out how to get them to function properly but that was such a minor thing compared to what we were experiencing. Wifi was excellent, TV was great, kitchen was fully equipped to the point one could have stayed for ever. Electronic adaptors were offered at the front desk. You exit through a bohemian bar/restaurant that had live music. Good memories for 4 family members with 2 bedrooms that were so comfortable, 2 toilets. An interior balcony overlooking the kitchen.living room! How decadent.

We recently stayed here for two nights in the two bedroom suites which are perfect for a family as there is also a kitchen, living area and laundry in the second bathroom. Apartment was spotless and location was so close to both attractions and shopping. Loved the pool and facilities as well.

The location was perfect for us, walking distance to bars, cafes, and restaurants. The OGB at the entrance to the building was great, full of energy and music, great cocktails, interactive happy staff.
The Tram running alongside this beautiful building made you feel like you were somewhere separate from this fast modern world we currently live in. It was a nice change
The room was huge, roomy & comfortable and had everything we needed for either a short or long term stay
The bed was very comfortable, soft and the pillows made falling to sleep easy.
The highlight was the lap pool, the spa and the sauna - a very nice way to start and end a day.
The hotel held onto our bags on the last day while we explored before flying home and the car valet pick up was slick.
We love Heritage buildings, so the Architecture, size, the detailing was stunning, that of a building of days gone by. So nice to see and be part of. The main stairs were stunning, with that feel of grandness.
