We stayed a couple of nights to visit the vineyards etc in the area. The cottage was clean warm and comfortable. Our host, Helen, was welcoming though we did not need to call upon her for anything as the cottage was well supplied with breakfast things including yoghurt cereals and a loaf of fresh bread. There were also bottles of their own organic wines which went down a treat! You need a car to stay here as it is a little out of town but if you do have a car it is well situated for major vineyards and attractions. We enjoyed watching the sunset over the vines. TIP: after dark turn out all the lights and enjoy the stars and Milky Way on a clear night.
This place is a little dream, extremely relaxing and absolutely beautiful among the vines. Clyde and Helen have unbelievably hospitality. We did a wine tour with Wine Tours by Bike which picks you up right outside, Steve and Jo are amazing. Had the best time ever!
“They say a picture is worth a thousand words” reads the heading of the gallery photos on the website, and all I can say is what you see reflects our experience. It was our last stop on the South Island and most relaxing. After settling in we walked through the vineyard to Rock Ferry Wines’ cafe for a afternoon snack and then drove to a nearby grocery for cheese and meats to have later with the excellent bottle of Walnut Blocks Sauvignon Blanc that was chilled and awaiting our arrival. Of course, also visiting other wineries was the purpose of the Blenheim stop and we did that - and I highly recommend lunch with vineyard views at Brancott Estate - but I can’t say enough about our Walnut Block accommodations. The sheep relaxing in a nearby pasture were an unexpected value add!
Stayed over Christmas three night at the cottage. We were really lucky to get the cottage over the holidays so shortly. Perfect experience. Really nice stay. Great view great hosts. Perfectly clean. Amazing view. Our 8 months old daughter enjoyed it also very much 🥰🥰🥰🥰
This place is a dream come true for wine lovers! There are so many amazing wineries in the area and the Walnut Block Cottages are the perfect place to stay to experience them. The view of the vineyards and mountains is beautiful and the cottage is very private and well maintained. We also did a cycling wine tour that we really enjoyed. I would absolutely recommend staying here!
