I spent 10 weeks in Koanui and I wish I could have stayed longer. You get to know the people so well that at the end you will be part of a family. The hostel is in a unbeateable location, close to supermarket and town and if you work in a factory a bus comes to get you everyday. It's... More

I arrived to Blenheim to find work. Of all working hostels only Koanui offered to find it for me. After a few days I started container loading and work on a vineyard after that. Luke and his staff have it all figured out. They are incredibly helpful and friendly. Weekends can be a bit wild, but I didn't mind the... More

Koanui is THE place to stay in Blenheim if you're looking for a job. It's a working hostel so during the week it's pretty quiet, but during the weekend they organise activities like saturdaynight games and cool hikes on sundays and ofcourse we love to share a drink and head into town for a dance. There is a hostel part... More

Koanui is a working hostel in Blenheim, situated in a working class town with new world supermarket within walking distance, and it's a 10min walk from the train station. It has two buildings - the old hostel which houses the longer-term working guests, and the newer lodge which have ensuite rooms for overnight guests. Importantly, cleaning staff at Koanui go... Nice and cosy hostel, perfect for backpackers (and families also). I lived there for 2 months. The manager is super friendly and helpful, he became a real friend. He helped me finding work, too. I think I spend the best time of my NZ-trip there. Most of the people worked there, the community felt like family after a few days.... More

I stayed at this Hostel for almost two months. As soon as me and my cousin arrived the Luke showed us around and got us working five minutes later. The owners and the manager of this hostel really make an effort to get you working as soon as possible. There are walks every sunday, where Dave shows you his favorite... More
