We stayed here two nights while visiting the vineyards in the Marlborough region. Situated in the heart of some very famous wineries, this place is an absolute gem! From the welcoming note with our names on at the start, to all the other personal touches, we were bowled over. Ruth & Barry have given their a real French feel and flair. There are lavender fields, olive groves, French style furniture and the warmest of welcomes. Wished we could have stayed longer.
We pulled up to French Fields after a gorgeous 3 hour car ride and were overwhelmed by the expansive lavender fields . Ruth is the most hospitable owner who showed us into a lovely suite with every available amenity. Great lighting , comfortable bed, great shower and bathroom , quiet and peaceful. She is a wonderful breakfast chef and even gave us a ride to dinner. This B and B is a slice of French heaven in Marlborough.
French Fields is a lovely, relaxing place to stay. It feels very much like an authentic Provençal experience. Ruth is a very caring and kind host. Positioned well, close to wonderful wineries. Highly recommended.
Absolutely wonderful find and Ruth and Barry are delightful hosts. They are proud of what they have done with the property and it shows. The accommodation itself is really quite comfortable and the entire attitude of the place is just one that makes you feel at home. Ruth does a masterful job with her fruits and breakfast. One cant help being happy for them as they seem so content with their lives and home. Fantastic location to visit the wineries in Blenheim, their restaurant recommendations were also spot on!
We had a short but sweet stay at French Fields. The accommodation is set on a gorgeous property with huge amounts of lavender. We stayed in the Maison Lavande. There is a cute kitchenette tucked away with a coffee machine, kettle and toaster. The bathroom is spacious and has a great shower. The bedroom is raised in the room and has the most comfortable bed and a bath set by the window to view the lavender gardens. The pool was great on such a hot day. Despite being a heated pool, it was still very refreshing. Ruth made a beautiful breakfast with muesli, yoghurt, fresh fruit, croissants and juice, which we ate outside. The BnB had nice little touches that made it a truly spectacular night. Our hosts gave us many options for dinner and I'm sure they could give excellent advice on things to do if you need it. Ruth and Barry were such wonderful hosts and we wish we had longer to stay in their lovely BnB and get to know them more!…
