While this facility is undergoing a necessary revamp, it still offers a fantastic weekend away. The communication with staff before and during our stay was friendly and professional. They spoke proudly of the improvements they are working on. Our Mountain View room was warm and clean, and well equipped, and will respond well to having the decor updated. We chose not... More

Some reason the management team is completely changed, it was operated by Japanese before, the private pool was superb and food in Japanese restaurant was excellent, unfortunately it's the same any more. This place used to have separate bath room for men and women, it's sucks that one of the room is currently renovated so need to wear swim suit... More

I agree with some of the earlier reviews that it was tired and the staff were hopeless generally. Probably because they were young and there didn't seem to be any management around. The rooms and pools are in need of renovation but they seem to be doing that as 2 pools were being renovated when we were there. The view... More

We have visited Maruia Springs on the way to Kaikoura for a break. Good thing is the environment there, it's stunning with the river passing by and the beautiful mountains behind it. However experience in the spa wasn't that great. The lady at the reception was quite unfriendly not providing any advice at all. It would have been nice to... More

The springs here are lovely. Different pools both in and outside. Remote location and nice scenery surrounding, very much a retreat. I have to say I was pretty unexcited by both the restaurant and accommodation. The restaurant does look beautiful and is nicely set out. However, I was simply not impressed with the food. I think in the restaurant if... More

These pools are not as commercialised as elsewhere, but that had its downsides. Be prepared for the algae that is floating in the water. While it may not feel, smell or look pleasant it is a natural by product of the way the water is cooled (so you are not cooked!). When we visited some of the pools were being... More

This hotel complex is in need of some serious work particularly given the prices of the rooms. Two of the outdoor pools were out of order undergoing much overdue cleaning which was disappointing as this was not mentioned when booking. The hot pools are relaxing however not cleaned regularly. Natural is not an excuse for masses of black algae and... More

We had one night staying in a Japaness style room(no.1). The room is clean, warm and beautiful. There is a massage chair in the room! What a perfect thing to do after soaking from 100% hot spring. 24 hours for guest to use an outdoor hot pool. We had a dinner which is a traiditional Japaness hot pot. It was... More

Really quite place, clean and tidy. Very helpful staff members, the facility is old as the resorts has opened for more than 10 years, but still a typical Japanese style, love it!!! The temperature is so comfortable for human body to stay, even the outdoor temperature is very low. The private bath is old as well, but we don't mind,... More
