We stayed one night whilst cycling the Alps to Ocean cycle trail. Having ridden a long hard day from Lake Ohau we were very disappointed to see our room with its drab furnishings, the rotting wood surround around the shower cubicle and the grubby toilet U bend! The basic continental breakfast was self service in the room which involved having...

Went for dinner on the final night of our camping trip. We weren't expecting a lot from a country pub in a very small community but our expectations were hugely exceeded. We went with pretty simple fare getting pizzas and their beef burger but my fussy teenage daughter loved her burger and my special of the day pizza with chorizo...

Stayed here with my wife in Room #7 on the 5th of December. Paid $105 NZ for one night. Plain room on the small side. Tight shower. Good water pressure and hot water. Small fridge, water boiler, TV with satellite. Space heater (no central heat which is common in NZ). Comfortable bed with good linens. Huge closet for some reason....

Our large group of 16 adults and 13 kids "descended" on the pub for lunch and it was great! They made us feel really welcome and the food was yummy. Worth stopping there just to read their very cleverly worded menu * Haven't rated the hotel side as didn't stay overnight

We stayed at Otematata for a long weekend and had several meals at the resturant. Wow....the ribs were the best and very highly recommended. Other nights we had pizza and lamb shanks which we equally good but consider leaving room for the cheese cake and sticky date pudding. This is equal to some of the good restaurants ive been to...

Thank you for your review. We have only had the hotel since October 2015 and it certainly requires some love. We are working hard to refurbish it whilst keeping the country charm that it has. We are very proud of our food and believe delivering great food at a reasonable rate (almost all dishes under $30) will be our strength...

Thanks for your review Brian and it was a pleasure having you stay. We pride ourselves on providing great quality food and friendly personal service. We know the rooms are a little tired and we are moving quickly towards giving them some attention. As you have pointed out we are very lucky with location here, being surrounded by 3 lakes,...

We stayed overnight on the Alps to Ocean cycle trail. Despite the fact that there appeared to be more modern and spacious motel units available at the rear we were offered a small pokey room in the main building (room 6). When we asked to transfer to a motel unit or to the larger room with a bath, we were...

Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to write your review. Firstly I apologise that you were not given a reason for your room placement. We purchased the front part of the hotel with the 10 adjoining rooms in October last year. The remainder of the rooms belong to a developer who is currently in the process of turning the...
