Hidden on the southern shore of Lake Brunner, surrounded by some of the oldest protected podocarp rainforest in the world, Lake Brunner Lodge is a classic wilderness retreat. Come and enjoy some respite from the real world and explore the West Coast’s magnificent natural environment. True kiwi hospitality awaits you. Stay for a night or a week for memories to last a lifetime! Established for more than a century, the Lodge’s polished timber panelling, log fires, book lined library, snug bar, pool table and comfortable guest suites make this a lovely place to stay. Guest suites are large and well equipped, with an emphasis on comfort and relaxation. We also have a self contained two bedroom cottage if you are after some more privacy. The lodge has been generating its own power since the 1930’s, sourced from the stunning Carew Falls located directly behind the lodge. Hydro-electric power is our main source of power and we are extremely proud to use a renewable resource that is right in our backyard. During your stay at Lake Brunner Lodge, you can enjoy relaxing by the fire in the library with a great book or be enchanted by the surrounding natural environment by taking a walk in the surrounding native bush, kayaking around the lake, mountain biking or fishing the nearby rivers for South Island Brown trout. At night, you may consider exploring the nearby native bush to seek out the thousands of glow worms glistening amongst the trees. Our in-house bar and restaurant Mitchells offers a breath-taking setting, from the elevated deck you can watch the world go by, as you enjoy a glass of wine and a hearty meal. Lake Brunner Lodge welcomes travellers from near and far to come and enjoy our beautiful lodge for an experience not to be forgotten. But be warned, you may forget where you are, amongst the silence of the forest and lake. We cannot wait to welcome you to our beautiful piece of the wild West Coast.
