We did not get to experience the property as our booking ( to stay in November 2016, booking was made in July 2016) was cancelled via email. This came our of the blue! In the email the owners said they could help with alternative accommodation, but when we phoned, the phone had been disconnected, they were not answering there mobile...

I have reviewed many places to stay for this and other review sites. It's rare to come across one that immediately stands out as much as Tokarahi Homestead. The building is impressive both inside and out, the rooms beautifully decorated with quality on view everywhere. The grounds and gardens lovely to walk around and the nearby countryside has several must...

As part of the cycle journeys Alps 2 Ocean bike ride we had an opportunity to stay at the wonderful huts. The food and hospitality was excellent and the huts in general was nice and cosy. The showers were great after a long day of cycling and I wish I had one at home. I can't wait to stay there...

We didn't stay in the house but in the little huts that the owner Heather built out of the materials from an old homestead. The huts were absolutely gorgeous and we loved sleeping in them. The kitchen and bathrooms were in a converted stone woodshed where Heather came to cook our dinner - lamb shanks with a dessert of the...

Our party of 3 were doing the Alps to Ocean cycle trail and after a long tiring day we were very pleased to arrive and find that Heather had upgraded us to the actual homestead. We were welcomed with homemade scones, jam, cream and tea and then enjoyed our beautifully decorated and spacious rooms. This was by far the best...

What a place! What a host! My son and I were cycling the Alps to Ocean ride and arrived a bit tired, we were welcomed by fresh scones & jam and a very welcome cup of tea. The limestone homestead is a gem, Heather is so welcoming and helpful, easily exceeding the expected experience that is evoked by the image...

Cycling the Alps to Ocean ride, we stayed overnight at Tokarahi Homestead. What a treat. The home is beautiful, hospitality outstanding and the food was wonderful. Couldn't have asked for more - would highly recommend staying here.

After a long hard days bike ride, our group of 12 were warmly greeted by Heather with freshly made scones, jam and hot coffee - what more could we ask for! The accommodation was amazing and we were all very impressed with our own little huts that were clean and well presented. After a delicious home cooked evening meal and...

4 of us were hoping to stay in Tokarahi (North Otago with beautiful rolling hills/ limestone cliffs/ near to the biking track and well established farming community). We saw the glamping cabins advertised and thought that sounded like us. These were, however, not yet available due to building holdups. We were, instead offered the Homestead and spent a very comfortable...

The moment we arrived we know we'd come to the right place. As both Brent and I love antiques and old homesteads we both felt in heaven. Tokarahi homestead is a lovingly restored late Victorian house made from local stone full of beautiful furniture of the same era. As we pulled up in the car park Heather opened the huge...
