We stayed in the 3 b/r holiday house with friends for two nights over Waitangi Weekend. Very comfortable, peaceful, close to all Southern Catlins attractions and extremely good value for money. Highly recommended. Host Justine replied promptly to our emails, including our booking changes (adding extra people). She was particularly helpful in checking with a local landowner for us about...

My sister and I stayed for only one night in the Holiday House in late September and wish it could have been more. It was so peaceful being surrounded by sheep pastures with lambs bounding around. (I used to raise sheep so I felt so at home!) The house sits by itself on a hillside with beautiful views across the...

LOVED my stay at the Slope Point Backpackers.!!!! I enjoyed two nights here between marathons on the 8th and 16th October. Many thanks Justine for your warm hospitality. Stayed in the Gold room ... everything here was clean and spotless from the shower, toilet and the kitchen/dining room/lounge. Lovely having the farm atmosphere. Spent my full day checking out all...

Stayed in the holiday house up the road which is part of the backpackers. Great for a family. Set on rolling green hills with great views. Very comfortable, plenty of firewood for the fire at night. Had no trouble getting wifi but had to stand by the window (I have to do that at home). Got to pet and feed...

We had planned to camp at Curio Bay for one last outing before school starting. The weather was lousy so we were thrilled to find that there was a reasonably priced holiday house available not far away. The house is well appointed with comfortable beds, a cozy fire, extra heating, well equipped kitchen, and hot shower. Apparently there is landscaping...

I have changed wording on the information sheet to cover your issues with the phone and internet. We get vodofone down at the house. Also landscaping has now started .......

Having been driving around New Zealand for nearly a month we had our fair share of pretty average nondescript motor parks. Slow point was like a breath of fresh air! Rural setting with sheep and goats on your doorstep, peaceful surrounds. Limited powered sites but plenty of other accommodation options. Great kitchen and bathroom facilities, all capped off by lovely...

Visited Slope Point on June 1st and stayed at the backpackers. The rooms are warm and self contained. Common room with fun games and all the essentials you need to have a good time. Perfect location under the starry skies. The gravel road leading up to it isn't too bad and just adds to the charm. Warm and welcoming hosts.Would...

Thanks for taking the time to give us a review. It was a pleasure having you stay and we don't like seeing people go hungry if they are caught out. Hope you have a great trip through the catlins and beyond. All the best for the future.

Slope Point backpackers feels like it is in the middle of nowhere but that is part of its charm. It is very quiet at night, and we had an amazing sleep. Booked the platinum room (self-contained) which looked more like a hotel than a hostel (only downside would be that it's a shower rather than a bath, but the suite...
