We had a perfectly lovely six nights in the gorgeous home of Sally and Neil. The location in Wellington was perfect for walking to all the CBD sights and the suite and breakfasts were delightful. What stood out to us on this visit, for each of us in our entire family, was the incredible warmth and generosity of the hosts.... More

Yes, we made new friends indeed! Amy's family were a real delight to host and watching the kids enjoying the swimming pool was fun for them and for us! The whole family fitted in perfectly, such interesting people. We miss them now they've gone on their South Island tour but we hope to see them again on their way north.... More

We have stayed at "Gardens Homestay" on two separate occasions. If anyone is in need of a B and B that: is extremely beautiful; oozes charm and character; has outstanding, attentive, caring and fun hosts; is well situated, being close to the botanical gardens and city centre; easy to get to on public transport (it took us less than an... What a wonderful review! Thank you for all the kind words, Richard, it was indeed a pleasure to have you stay and I'm sure we'll see you again. I think the difference with Gardens Homestay is that every guest visit is a special experience for us as we're part time B&B hosts and we only take one party at a... More

Staying with Neil and Sally (and Rocky, the cat) was a delightful experience for our family - having a cosy fire to sit by, hot drinks and cookies, delicious breakfasts and friendly hosts warmed us both inside and out, on 2 rather chilly and windy days in Wellington. From the word go, Neil was very helpful and prompt in his... More

It was a pleasure to host our new friends from Singapore and the conversations were interesting and wide-ranging. Widely traveled guest like these are what make the B&B such an interesting pursuit for Sally and myself. I hope that our paths cross again! More

We were only able to stay with Neil and Sally for two nights but it was quite a treat! Neil was incredibly welcoming and gave us suggestions for planning our trip. We loved talking about the difference between the US and New Zealand with him. Everything is very clean and tidy. The breakfasts Sally made for us were amazing!!! It... More

We always enjoy having American guests as Sally and I have both spent a great deal of time in the US. So it's great to read the lovely review from Jennifer and to know they enjoyed their stay (and the electric blanket!) Wellington has a cool climate and nights are always cold, almost everyone enjoys getting into a warm bed!... More

Gardens Homestay is in an excellent location. It is near the botanical gardens and only moments away from the center of the town. The neighborhood has wonderful bistro type restaurants and a pub. Neil and Sally are superb host and hostess. They are very friendly and welcoming. Not only they helped us with suggestions but also they were genuinely interested... More

We had such and enjoyable time with these lovely guests. They are very accomplished in banking and international finance so the conversations were well beyond interesting. We also enjoyed the warm relationship this family have to one another, they were wonderful guests. I've often said that the best thing about the B&B is meeting such interesting and widely experienced guests.... More

Our family really enjoyed the stay at Gardens Homestay, and its central location makes walking to many places of interest very convenient. We were also rather amused that the house is actually more beautiful than what is shown on their website. Neil and Sally were also very helpful in providing us with information on where to visit and where to... More

Just a few minutes ago I commented to Sally "We should say on our website that we love having families stay" and this comment was in regard to Angela's family who stayed with us recently. Then a review pops up, from Angela, our 58th 'Excellent' review - I was surprised and very pleased! Thank you again for the wonderful review... More

Stayed here 2 memorable nights. Neil is an amazing host. It's a lovely, charming victorian home, totally renovated with heated pool to boot, modern bathroom, beautiful bedroom, downstairs sitting-work area, and just 1 set of guests so it's a unique, highly personal experience. Super breakfast, perfect location near everything yet quiet, nice views too. For us what really made the... More

I was very impressed by all the reviews and replies about this apartment, so booked it for our family who were gathering from all over the world for my father in law's 100th birthday. Neil was very prompt in answering all my questions and most obliging as I waited to hear from relatives in Switzerland. When they couldn't come, Pa... More

Our 2-night stay at the Gardens Homestay in Wellington was just delightful. It was in a pleasant and quiet location, off the main streets, yet very centrally located to the city. The accommodations were excellent and nicely appointed, with plenty of room and very comfortable. Our hosts, Neil and Sally, were very accommodating and made certain that we were both... More

Very enjoyable stay with friendly & attentive hosts Neil & Sally. It was a unique of opportunity for my partner & my daughter as the house was originally built by my great grandfather. The house has been amazingly restored with a huge amount of time, effort, dedication & skill. A lovely place to stay in a handy location.

What an interesting stay that was for Sally and myself! Nigel's family history includes visiting our old home when it was occupied by the original owner, a Member of Parliament, so the recollections of that very early visit were of great interest to us. Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed their stay and their keen interest in the house, an... More
