If I could give this place negative stars it would be too generous We made the unfortunate error of booking this place as a stop over for rugby weekend. As Wellington gets packed out on big events like this everywhere hikes up its prices and this was pretty much the only place we could find for less than triple digits... More

its important to understand the pricing to this lodge,WHAT YOU PAY FOR IS WHAT YOU GET!!! so good friends , $120.00,wich amounted to 5 days accommodation plus a $20.00 key fee.My bed was comfy and my roomies respectful.I would definitely re-stay,staff are friendly and helpful-thumbs up Lodge in my beautiful city-Wellington.

My partner and I have been traveling from Queenstown up to Auckland and after a very rough night at the Interislander we finally arrived at Lodge in the City at 2am. We booked through booking.com. $75.00 with carpark. When we arrived we found this alley with a huge rubbish bin and bags all over the entrance. It looked like a... More

Stayed here at the weekend. Absolute skip. Windows are token and the bathroom was constantly flooded. The place generally stinks and has an awful kitchen. The pool table was completely bAttered. Rather stay in a bus stop then stay in this dross again!

This place is vile it just smells poisonous. I've stayed in a lot of hostels and this has to be the worst. The bathrooms, flooding, tampons on the floor, blood and goodness knows what else splattered up the doors. Mouldy and just pure rotten. The bedroom is ok, other than the mouldy cup of coffee on the window Cill and... More

What an old, run down and dirty place accidentally stumbled upon. After booking the cheapest room (but not the cheapest I've ever come accross), I was given a key and ushered to the uttermost back part of the hostel where I found 4 bunk beds situated in a dilapidated and dreary room. The windows were cracked and boarded up, the... More

I don't recommend this place event though how desperate you could be. Find other place. This place not even worth your money. The owner the management should do something about it. The building look good from outside but once you enter you knw you found a place for horror movie. My whole life, that was my 1st time experience something... More

The Good thing is the price.. The Bad Things are: -broken washing machine -almost everything is broken and dirty (mold!) -half of the toilets and shower were out of order -no internet -fighting for a parking place -weird people

This was my first hostel experience ever, and my worst hostel experience ever. Easily one of the dirtiest and most revolting places I've set foot in. I stayed here for one night with my brother in March 2016, and we were crammed into a small 8 bed dorm, where it barely fit the 4 bunkbeds. With it being in a... More

Let me start by saying that we have traveled for 11 months through southeast Asia, Indonesia and Australia. We have stayed in countless hostels and guesthouses. Lodge in the City was by far the worst. It is cheap and fairly central but that's where the good points end. The kitchen is so dirty and at times disgusting, that I didn't... More
