Ok, after serval travelling nightmares and a late night landing in Wellington, we finally booked to stay at Waterloo. After being dropped off at the accommodation the staff couldn't find our booking, this is because we had actually booked for a month in advance by accident. However, the receptionist lightened the mood and found us a room for the night....

Within the hostel there's a cafe, billiards room and pub (closed when we went) with high ceilings that suggested a previously haughty existence. The adjoining kitchen is well equipped but the supplies are well worn and a little threadbare. Our room was small with 2 bunk beds and a chair. There was a very deep bathtub but no drain plug...

Central and convenient for the station and the ferry terminal, this is the perfect place to spend the night for early connections. Plenty of rooms to.suit every budget, from dorms and shared bathroms to rooms with ensuites. Communal lounge and dining room has self catering kitchen facilities or reasonably priced meals, great breakfasts. Parking is local in a paid car...

If you are travelling using public transport, the location is fantastic! Just across the road from the railway station, and my bus dropped me off right at the door. The in room ensuit was very clean, and the shower was amazing! I couldn't find the kitchen in the hostel - signage wasn't very helpful unless you are looking for the...

I stayed at the Waterloo in a 3 & 4 beddorm for about 2 weeks. The rooms itself were very clean and tidy. Big kitchen, movie room and pool table was also available. You can walk pretty much everywhere from the hostel and the train/ bus station is just across the road. Helpful and friendly staff. Would stay there again.

Not the best hostel we slept in during our one-month-trip across NZ... But well, I reckon we couldn't except that much from a big city! The rooms (we did 2 different, both 6 beds dorm) are clean, with an ensuite bathroom. It's an old historic building so not really isolated (and a window was broken in the first room), so...

For the price that we paid, we couldn't complain about much! Our room was clean, communal kitchen was clean, wasn't overcrowded or noisy. It could do with a revamp though, its very old. Beds are also incredibly comfortable!!

Nice and helpful staffs. Reasonable price for a clean room for 6 peoples with bunk beds and private bathroom. The kitchen is huge and full of pot/pans, utensils etc for own cooking. Opposite the railway station which has a small supermarket so it is convenient to find any things we need. The hotel should provide a storage room for luggage...

I picked the Hotel Waterloo because I arrived from Napier by bus and needed to take the ferry in the morning. I almost walked the wrong way died the street but the easiest way to find the hotel is walk outside the station. Look slightly left across the street. If you see the Subway restaurant you've found the hotel as...
