The rooms are very cramped and there are not enough toilets. OK for young singles or couples on a shoestring budget. There is free wifi. It gets quite noisy at night with partying backpackers. The ONLY advantage is it's very central location!

Me and my friend have just finished our stay at the trek global backpacker. We stayed at the purple floor in a double room. Overall, it's a thumbs up. What I like: Friendly and helpful staff, location, value for money, free games area What I don't like: Cold freezing shower, slightly humid room, poor noise insulation (if someone or a... More

Definitely not the best hostel I've stayed in, but not the worst. This is not an ideal hostel if you are looking to be involved in activities or necessarily meet many people. Also, the bathrooms were not always the most clean.

Hi Jessica, Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback. We work hard here at Trek Global to offer our guests absolutely the best service we can with what we have available. Our housekeepers thoroughly clean the bathrooms and kitchens at least three times per day, and we put on social events throughout the week (such as bingo,... More

This place is truly like a second home to me. Stayed at two different times long term and a couple days here and there. Staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome, answering any queries you have and giving great local knowledge. Purple wing - the most quiet wing so go here if you want peace and quiet Orange... My girlfriend and I came up to Wellington to see the last show in the Wearable arts season. It was going to be a push to get back to Christchurch on the Sunday night so we stayed the night in Wellington. Trek Global turned out to be perfect for our needs. Noise was a problem (heavy doors banged late at... More

The hostel is in a good location and has unlimited wifi (rare in NZ) but it is the noisiest hostel we have stayed at. It is quite unfortunate that there is building work going on across the road and the windows only seem to open exceptionally wide. This also poses a problem when people drinking downstairs go outside to smoke.... More

We were four friends in double rooms, creaky beds, but clean linen. Kitchen and bathrooms conveniently on each floor level. Bathrooms are well designed, with each a basin, shower & toilet. Liked the lounge, but was too busy exploring the city to really make use of it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We appreciated the free storage on... More

Awesome hostel - right in town, friendly staff, great atmosphere. The rooms were great, as were the shared kitchens/bathrooms. I found it to be a very safe environment too. Would come back here in a heartbeat!

I spent 1 night here at the female-only top floor. It had nice rooms, access to free tea and coffee and a really cute roof terrace. The hostel had a good vibe. Each floor had a kitchen. It is a bit of a challenge to find your dorm as it is a huge building with many stairs and hallways. It's... More

Thank you for your review Merel! Our exclusive female-only Retreat area is certainly popular - especially with its access to the tranquil rooftop garden! While the stairs and corridors can be confusing to new arrivals, it quickly becomes familiar, and you simply can't beat the convenient location! More
