My stay was neither poor nor excellent. I was shocked at checkin to be charged a room bond of $100per night. I was staying 4nighys and that was a substantial amount of money for me (given I was already paying for my stay in full).

It was a last minute booking and we are so happy the mystery hotel was yours. Fantastic room with a separate bed for our little one. With the price we paid, we didn't think that would be possible. Beds were very comfortable and then the next day our little boy was able to eat brekky at the buffet for free... More

Everything was easy. Staff real nice. Coffee shop lovely. A little tired but nothing really to complain about. Hotel has been structurally strengthened to cope with earthquakes. Great location. Don't order room service breakfast!

I was not informed that the Club Room floor which we initially book held special benefits and services i.e. free breakfast, bar and other deals. Had I known this I would have utilised the services which I had paid for!

Great place to stay with great views of the harbour . I wanted to stretch my legs and was so close to everything I wanted to do on the Quay. Wellington and a fabulous city on a calm day and James Cook is about the best place to see this

Great location, great facilities, great staff - excellent all round value! A very relaxed and pleasant stay, valet parking such a bonus and the location is great especially with lift access to Lambton Quay.

Good place to stay but in-room wifi has been an issue for years and continues to be so. It is often difficult to pick up in the rooms, and you are required to pay for more that just limited downloads. It should be a free service in this day and age. Otherwise all oother services are good. The hotel is... More

The James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor is my accommodation of choice when in Wellington. The location is superb and the defining feature is the people. The staff at the James Cook are helpful, friendly and approachable.

Basically it is just not value for money at this place. Doors are not very sound proof and i can hear the room attendants talking outside in the middle of the day. There was no showering cubicle in my room so had to shower had to shower in the bathtub, which i felt was a safety hazard for elderly folks... More

Didn't even know there was an earthquake. Didn't feel a thing. Very solid building. Great position and the lift down to Lambton Quay was a real plus. Thank you to the wonderful staff at James Cook for a lovely weekend away.
