After deciding late to visit in Easter, to make sure the room was available - I booked over the phone. We had a clean, warm, one bedroomed motel unit - suiting my young grandson and I, with a queen and single in the room. The pool wasn't heated but great to cool down in. My grandson enjoyed the trampoline and the playground, which is well placed by the two bedroomed unit. The spa bath was noisy, so needs maintenance. Be aware that traffic jams do occur during peak times, so it would pay to allow longer than the 15 minutes it usually takes to get into Tauranga city centre. Even though it was off the main road, it was quite private, and the heavy traffic noise quietened down later in the evening.
The rooms were incredibly dusty, which caused our son’s asthma to become aggravated and he was sick all night. The noise level inside the room is totally unacceptable. The unit is just a few meters away from a main road and roundabout and yet there is no soundproofing. The walls between our unit and the one next door were paper thin and again with no soundproofing. We were awake all night due to our son’s dust-induced asthma, the traffic noise, the people next door showering and talking. It sounded like they were inside our room. We tried calling the number for the reception several times between 10pm and midnight and there was no answer. We spoke to the Duty Manager in the morning to raise our concerns and ask for a refund - the room was filthy and noisy, and expensive! She inspected the filth in our room with her cleaner, and we were fobbed off with a business card and asked to email the owner/manager. After they finally responded to my email, they refused to even partially refund us for our nightmare stay, and when I asked if the owner/manager could call me to discuss this, I was told that she would not call me "because the decision to not refund us had been made". Appalling customer service. They really do not care about their customers or their reputation. For $293 per night, we expected a much higher standard. Our weekend was ruined. It was the most disappointing stay in a motel we’ve had in New Zealand.…
We had a large room that was clean with a kitchenette and fridge. We chose it mainly for location as the glow worm kayak tour we booked was just 1 km away otherwise travelers may find this location a bit isolated. The staff was not overly friendly. The property is located adjacent to a very busy road so traffic noise is significant. It did bother us but it might be an issue for light sleepers.
Our stay there was okay in the end, it started with a booking with Irene over the phone, when we arrived, she told us there was no booking under our name, soon got sorted, Our room was nice, roomy, clean, our 2nd incident was hearing the people in the next unit arguing very clearly at night. We complained to the older lady and she was very nice.
Travelled to Tauranga/ Mt Maunganui as part of a team sports trip - booked multiple rooms in the Holiday park + a motel until for the Coach. Rooms were reasonably sized and comfortable but dated. Only complaint was that the holiday park chalets were not serviced for the duration of our stay - so there were no new towels/ toilet paper provided over the week
