Excellent accommodation, with each of the junior suites a separate building, with a view of the river flowing down towards the falls. Staff very friendly, helpful and efficient. Food top quality. We had breakfast, lunch, pre dinner canapes and a 5 course degustation dinner included in our tariff but only had lunch once because we weren’t hungry. The room had fruit, nuts and chocolate, all of which were included. Pre dinner drinks were included, with an excellent selection of high quality wines. Alcohol with meals was an extra cost. Grounds superb and really peaceful setting. A ten minute walk to Huka Falls. You need a car to tour around. Highly recommended place.
Did not disappoint. Just a beautiful setting, lodgings and staff. We had 3 nights and had such a lovely time and were looked after so well. Just a small problem with the menu. We found a lot of the flavours not harmonious - in a bad way. I guess you could say it was uncomfortable food. In a lodge next to a trout stream within a few clicks of deer shooting country maybe more rustic would be better. Perhaps since Kiwis are not the target market. There are far better 5 star five dining menus in Auckland for a fraction of the cost. And what is it with the minimalist ‘canapés? Too much Fat texture and Unami I think. They look beautiful next to your cocktail but best left on the plate. Oh and the lunch time fondant was divine .... every day :)
This is hands down, one of the most amazing places, we've ever stayed at. The surroundings, the people, food are all first class. As soon as you arrive you are warmly greeted with champagne & shown around. Although a high class lodge, it has a very relaxed feel & you can wear smart casual clothing & feel comfortable We can't wait to return, this time for the weekend!
We had a wonderful two nights at Huka Lodge recently. It is beautifully located, nestling beside the Waikato just above the impressive Huka Falls. The room was stunning, comfortable and stylish. The food world class.
Stayed 2 nights here over Labour weekend. Has been on our list for a long time, and the opportunity arose when the Border closure meant access for Kiwi's was a little easier. A sensational 2 days fro the moment we arrived. Have never experienced service like it. The Lodge was full for the weekend...full of a wide range of NZérs enjoying their own backyard, and it was great to chat in the Lounge around the fire after what were 2 nights of amazing culinary excellence. Cottages are awesome, right on the river, and we've never heard the "Birdsong"like it at sunrise each morning. There were so many extra touches, each one shows why they are consistently in the Top 10 Lodges in the World. Wow...we need to get back there
We had the pleasure of enjoying a night at this beautiful Lodge. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like we were the only guests, handed a glass of champagne and then taken on a tour and to our room by the General Manager. The canapes and drinks were fabulous then on to a stunning five course dinner. The rooms are exquisite, the service is outstanding with delightful staff who are extremely professional but with a personality. The General Manager, Kerry is an absolutely asset to the Lodge and was so accommodating at assisting us get to the National Equestrian Centre and into Taupo, even offering to come back and pick us up ..... all after we had technically checked out. Breakfast was enjoyed in the 'queens' room and lunch outside by the fire. We didn't want to leave. Still dreaming of our wonderful experience. Thank you Kerry and your team, your super stars and showcase incredible New Zealand hospitality.…
We went for a long-anticipated weekend and the room and lodge and grounds and staff were absolute perfection. Breakfast was wonderful, pre dinner drinks in front of the fire, lunch on the terrace; all gorgeous. But dinner...First night was nice but I honestly can't remember it - which is unlike the previous time we had dinner there, 20 years ago which I can recite, course by course because it was so fabulous. And the second night - luke-warm vegetarian; very pretty but bland, muted, and we gave up half way through. There is not much to be said for the concept of "Chef knows best" when this is the result. Would love to come back, but while this model of dining is in place, we won't be. Staff are AMAZING, though.
- Huka Lodge is hands down one of the best places we’ve been. It’s a benchmark for high quality accommodation in every aspects. - The property sits right by the Waikato River - every detail is beautiful and the very tasteful (dustless) decor just topped it off. - Service level is amazing (which is what you don’t always find in NZ). The staff remembered us by the names and went extra miles to accomodate us and our toddler. - The food was exceptional and is on par with some of the Michelin restaurants I’ve tried.
From arriving to leaving we had a wonderful stay at Huka Lodge. The food, wine, service and surroundings were perfect. Most definitely will go back. Our lodge room by the river was spacious and comfortable with a relaxing feel and a great view. Lovely gardens for walks. We didn’t really need to leave the place apart from a pleasant walk to the Falls.
From the time we arrived till we left two days later we felt like friends. Passionate people run this lodge Food magnificent Wine superb I could write so much but really it is exceptional in all areas
