The lodge is set in a wooded forest and in on large river that runs into Huka Falls and Lake Taupo. The room was large, very comfortable and clean and looked out on the river. The staff were off the charts nice, friendly and professional. They went above and beyond to make our stay special and wonderful. The food was... More

We were in NZ for business & decided to reserve a table for lunch before leaving home as we had heard the food was outstanding. The grounds & gardens nestled overlooking the Waikato River are absolutely divine. We were given a choice on where we wanted to dine as there are many romantic nooks within the lodge. We opted for... We wondered if the reality would live up to the stellar reputation. Hype can lead to disappointment. But no, we loved every second of our stay and would return in a heartbeat. The setting is divine. While it's a fair distance from town, the river, the lodge, the gardens ... total relaxation in total luxury. Gazing at the view was... More

Wow what a simply breathtaking experience! My husband and I have been here on three different occasions and the menu just seems to exceed expectations more and more each time. Let's put it this way - if I was diagnosed with a life threatening illness I would want to spend my last days here. Everything is perfection!

Suites are great (quite similar to Eichardts, on a smaller scale) service is excellent, grounds are impeccable and the food&wine are the very best! Great escape from the hustle&bustle and suites are very private and tranquil. My only suggestion would be a bit more option in the mini bar, a 42 below or Grey Goose would be a much better... More

We stayed for two nights in June 2016 on a fly fishing package. At the time that I booked the trip, I thought it was actually rather cheap compared to what I was expecting to pay for a stay at Huka Lodge. Then, when I got my receipt, I realised that the price was 'per person', so that actual cost... More

Was expecting more from Huka Lodge - staff were friendly but too inquisitive; the cottage was very comfortable and enjoyed the surroundings. The food was also good but unfortunately they accept casual diners which impairs on ones privacy and destroys the ambience. Why? I was able to read the names of their "famous" guests - please. Departed next day to... More

As we drove past the gates and towards Huka Lodge in the dark and the wet, we made out the shadows of a gorgeous garden - a promise of the artistic eye candy that greeted us the following morning. We parked in the alcove between the wine cellar and the main doors. Immediately, the staff came out and took over... More

The grounds are stunning and the individual bungalows allow plenty of privacy. The food is very good with an emphasis on local fish and game. The hotel is a NZ legend but it is expensive and availability is often tight. A real plus is that's in easy walking distance of Huka Falls, one of the main attractions in the Taupo... More

My husband and I had treated ourselves to one night at Huka Lodge for special celebrations - one night was definitely not long enough! From the moment that we arrived, we were welcomed and made to feel very special. The lodge itself is so warm and welcoming and steeped in history. We were given a tour of the lodge and... More
