The Waitahanui Lodge is all about the kiwi bach experience. The original lodge was built in 1932 as a fishing lodge that by today's standards would have been fairly basic. In the 1950's a new lodge was built right by the lake's edge and close to the world renowned Waitahanui River. With renovations and upgrading the Lodge has up to date facilities and caters for today's travellers, yet the "kiwiana soul" of the Lodge remains. The lodge consists of 5 well equipped, self catering cottages, accommodating up to 5 guests. All linen is supplied. Absolute lakefront location can be enjoyed from two of our cottages while the others are just a few steps away. Our wonderful lakeside terrace provides the perfect spot for a barbecue or simply to enjoy a great sunset. Our on site tackle shop has waders and rods for hire plus all the fishing tackle needed to fish our local rivers for trout.

We spent 5 days at Waitahanui Lodge as part of an 80th birthday celebration. The venue was easy to find on SH1 south of Taupo. The complex consists of 5 self contained units. The buildings are old but the interiors have been painted and are light and airy. The unit we

My family spent our Christmas here, we highly recommend! We have a 1 year old and she absolutely loved waking up and seeing the lake and birds every morning. If you want a lakefront cabin you definitely must book in advance, but they are well worth it. It was a very peaceful

We stayed at Waitahanui Lodge on our honeymoon, with a beautiful view of Lake Taupo and surrounded by wildflowers and the pumice-stone beach. Our hosts were incredible -- fresh baked cookies when we arrived, fresh smoked trout from an afternoon fishing outing, and new kayaks

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for one night and wish we had planned to stay for longer! Such a welcoming feeling right from the outset and offered us the kiwi experience we were craving. We hired some fishing gear and had a guided fishing trip out on the boat and Anthony

Hi Robin, thanks for your enquiry. Anytime's a good time to stay at Waitahanui Lodge! Jan, Feb and March are all good months here during summer. You could all be accommodated in Rooms 3, 4 and 5 which are available together in early February. The tariff for 10 people in those 3 units would be $547 per night. You can see photos of all those rooms on the Rooms page of our website. Regards Sue
