Bad news: public spaces in the hotel are shabby and need to be updated. Better news: rooms sleep three are are clean and functional, but not luxurious. Light breakfast, tea and coffee included. Best news: excellent location for shops, transport links, information centre, night market, etc.

Didn't want to stay in this hotel in the first place and we had originally booked another hotel. Somehow our reservation got messed up and we had to accept this hotel as replacement. I wish we didn't. Hotel even though called "Grand" is nothing but grand. I would say it's rather SAD. Definitely not worth 100++ in global scale of...

For the price this hotel is not worth it. The stairwells are well overdue for a paint and the carpet next to the window in the room we were in was wet from rain. Ironing board missing from our room. Breakfast was very simple but we could not get it before 08:00 so not good if you are working at...

Stayed for 2 nights over the weekend. Checking in was a breeze. We didn't have much issues as we notified the hotel we will be arriving late. We had to cross over to the main entry and up a flight of stairs to get to our room. The hallway smelt really mouldy. Our room on the 1st floor, overlooking the...

The bedrooms have been renovated and are very comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The common rooms are down-at-the-heels. The hotel is in a perfect location for visiting the museum or the i-site/bus stop or shopping.

Great central location and Sheridan at reception was fabulous. The room was ok but clearly aged and could do with a serious re-vamp. The whole complex could. The bed was too soft for my liking and since I had a room out front it wasn't the quietest.

Desperate need of some maintaince. After some rain there was buckets everywhere and Carpet was soaked in hallways. Heat pump didn't work in any rooms and the smell of dampness was sickening. Rooms were large enough but shower leaked water all over floor from faulty shower screen rubber. Carpet under beds was not vacuumed and 4 bar oil heater was...

Rundown, missing lampshades, heat pumps not working, ceiling lights full of years worth of bugs. But had a decent sleep there and was comfortable enough. Great location but doesn't have much going for it. The old bridge connecting to reception area clearly leaks and I would be reluctant to walk across it!

Arrived at the Grand Hotel on Saturday the 9th of July 2016, and was greeted with a smile by Sheridan who was very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. She gave us a room which was close to the stairwell, so we didn't have far to carry our luggage. Awesome location, within walking distance to practically everything. The room...

Its my second time back in Rotorua so we decided to stay someone at the city itself. Read the reviews for this "hotel" so I decided to give it a go. Haha! As expected. NO LIFTS. So my dad and I had to lug our luggage up the stairs. That was the only tiring part. Other than that, room is...
