We gathered to celebrate a friends birthday and were treated to a luxurious experience from the moment we stepped out of our cars. The food was delicious and a feast for the yes as well as the stomach. Wines were exquisitely matched to each course. Solitaire Lodge a peninsula in paradise. It has to be experienced to be believed

Everything about Solitaire is wonderful. The setting is unsurpassed with incredible views. The decor is understated and elegant. The food was fresh, local and featured many subtle flavours. Our suite was supremely comfortable helped by the air conditioning in the heat of summer - one key reason for our decision to stay here.

Using our GPS system we found Solitaire Lodge quite easily located just outside Rotorua. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner, Wayne, and shown to our room (#6). When we walked into the room we wanted to stay forever. There were floor to ceiling windows looking out to a beautiful inlet with small boats floating on the water... More

Thank you to Wayne, Ingrid and the team for an amazing time! The location and views are amazing, but the team really made it special. A truly personal tailored service. Both of the chefs were exceptional during dinner and breakfast, working in their open kitchen. Excellent!

We were hosted in the Solitaire Lodge by Nick and Pip, and couldn't be happier about it. They manage a really cozy lodge, we came for a short visit but they surely made it remarkable. We had just one full day to know Rotorua and they made sure you could take the most out of it! Mike was the one... More

In about twenty trips to this beautiful country we have stayed at most of the Great Lodges from Huka to Minaret from Hapuna to Wharekea. We have always felt that we received good value for what we paid. Not here. The setting is phenomenal. You can sit and look and the lake all day. The inside of the rooms are beautifully... More

This was the most wonderful place to relax and be pampered. We enjoyed the location, the hospitality and the food. The trip to the hot spring for a swim was a highlight. Summer or winter, this is a great place to stay.

Everything about this lodge is done with care, and attention to detail and comfort! The staff couldn't have been nicer, more engaging or accommodating. We stayed in Room #3 and the views of the lake through floor-to-ceiling glass walls were lovely and peaceful. The linens were soft, and the blankets, fluffy towels and pillows plentiful. Our room had every imaginable... More

We stayed 3 nights in a family suite with full length living room and bathroom windows overlooking Lake Tarawera. Dawn and twilight were the best times to watch the light changing in the sky and swans with cygnets gliding across the lake below, with birdsong in the background. Days were spend kayaking on the lake, searching for nesting swans amongst... More

Solitaire was our first stop on a recent visit to New Zealand. What a fantastic way to start. Wayne, the owner is great and could not do enough for us.
