This pleasant b&b is well located on Tarawera Road, Rotorua. Our host Vivienne has been very helpful during our stay and provides a great cooked breakfast. Our room was modern, very clean and pleasant. Common facilities like dining and the outdoor area were immaculate.

We had an awesome time at the Redwoods B&B. We stayed there for 2 nights last week and enjoyed every minute. Vivienne was just great at setting us up for the night walk where we didnt have to queue and she made us a great lunch we could pack for our day out. The rooms were just as the pictures and really clean an comfortable. We would stay there again for sure. Thank you so much!!!!

Hi Alison Thank you very much for your lovely review. I am very happy to hear you had an awesome experience staying over 2 nights. I enjoy hosting my guests and chatting over breakfast, glad you appreciated the advise on the mountain biking tracks to do. We are very fortunate to be located so close to the Redwoods Forest and Treewalk. Due to the many of my guests doing the Treewalk, it is a priviledge to be given sole VIP entry to the night walk, saving my guests a lot of time purchasing same price ticket to the Treewalk from me. I am glad you took the offer and did not have to queue. Glad you agree the rooms were just as the pictures and really clean and comfortable. We hope to see you again soon. All the best wishes. Kind Regards Vivien

You can tell from Vivien's replies on any negative review that she cannot take any criticism or responsibility for her bad service or behaviour. There is literally an excuse for everything as you can read yourself. We were mislead by the cabin pictures and tables she conveninetly added to the room pictures we booked. We ended up in the room at the front of the house which was outdated with a bathroom that needed a deep clean and a view of the road instead of the garden. Also the garden is tiny and the pictures have been taken at angles to make the place look huge. It is tiny! As for Vivien herself she seems to have trouble reading social situations. Everything she does is for her own convenience and timing and she is unhappy to be flexible for guests unless it works out for her benefit. She only takes cash for the rooms, so please don't be fooled when she says she is happy to take card, we ended up having to make a bank transfer. Her breakfast isn't great and she sits down at your table with you and talks (lots!) whilst you eat, staring at you, even though she isn't eating. Which is very strange and her questions are quite intrusive. I noticed in 1 negative review she remembered how someone took their tea and what milk they liked from 15 months prior? (que twilight zone music) this doesn't seem normal :( and a little Joe from YOU esque. Please please believe the negative reviews you read about this place. Also our reviews have been deleted on other websites and I have noticed other people's negative reviews have also been deleted? which is really scary to know, how many has she been able to get rid of?? I have travelled all over the world and I am a seasoned traveller. This is hands down the worst place I have stayed. Mostly due to Vivien herself. There are other incredible places to stay in Rotorua which are better value for money! Now grab some popcorn (or any snack of choice) and get comfy as we ride the wave of insanity which will be Viviens reply! If you missed the Edinburgh Fringe this year, trust me her reply will make you laugh - enjoy!

Hi I am sorry to hear that you missed the good experience staying at my place. Many of the issues that you had while staying with me were unwarranted. I have been running my B&B for over 10 years and this is the 1st Terrible Review that I have received from a very disgruntled person whom I have no recollection of hosting since your stay was over 11 months ago and it had taken you 10 months to submit this feedback. Should you had such an unpleasant experience while you stayed with me I would have the chance to hear your concerns and addressed the issues. I must say there are a lot of inaccuracies in your feedback and recollection of your stay with me. You have purposely attacked my character, I have no idea what you mean by my bad service and behaviour. My house is located in a nice suburb of Rotorua and is the most expensive house on my street, certainly not a cabin room but an ensuite bedroom which has been renovated not too long ago. Perhaps not a palace room as you had expected but a very clean room in a proud family home and by no mean tiny. There is definately a fenced front garden, big enough to park 2 cars to give you an idea of size. This is also the first time I hear that I was unhappy to be flexible, I learn from attending a prestigious School of Business & Economics, Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Canada that Customer is King and I have always upheld professionalism in everything I do. You could have done some research prior to booking your stay with me should you prefer not to engage with the host as this is not a motel or a hotel where you certainly didn't have to talk. I had interacted with discretion. I have no power to delete any review, be it good or bad, it is rather dishonest of you to make such accusation. Over the many years of running my B&B I have only 1 poor review from the many hundreds of guests that stayed with me and over 90% of them had rated me Excellent. Many have agreed that I am the Host with the Most with many returning to stay with me again and again. I am very proud of what I do and since your unpleasant stay I have received many more Excellent Reviews and B&B@The Redwoods is also a recipient of the Travellers Choice Award for 2020. A Very Happy and Authentic Host - Vivien Cooper
