We had a flight delay back home to fiji so decided on an impromptu trip up to the bay. Totally on a whim we booked into Crisdon castle. What a sweet place!! We stayed in the Kings room and were blown away by the accommodation and the view over waitangi river. Absolutely amazing bed to sleep in, the Roman bath... More

After getting engaged in a sunny morning during our first visit to Crisdon Castle in November 2013 we had finally returned this time to say our 'I dos'. Our memories from 2013 served us well, the unmistakable views, swallows and tui's flying past the deck and very comfortable rooms. This time we hired out 3 or the four rooms for... More

Our travel agent booked us for 1 night so my husband could go diving as we are trying to explore a variety of dive sites. Paihai is a nice little town with a lot of places to stay and eat. Crisdon Castle is about 3 km up a hill from town and not really within walking distance because of the... More

After a nightmare trip from Australia with major delays, we were immediately "saved" upon pickup from Donna, whisked from Paihia to the luxury "Kings Retreat". We arrived at 11pm, flustered and hungry from our long journey and Donna went out of her way to help, whipping up a gourmet pizza and providing advice despite this unusually late check in. The... Our stay at Crisdon Castle was fantastic. The owners Donna and Chris are lovely lovely people. They cook a mouth watering breakfast. Donna is a fantastic cook! I highly recommend your stay here. We stayed in the Kings Retreat that opens up to a breath taking view over Paihia! Didn't want to come home! Will definitely come back here!!

Fantastic rooms, unbeatable views and great hospitality. A little out of town but worth it for the views, peace and tranquility. As much breakfast as you wanted cooked to order. The use of a clothes washing machine and tumble dryer was very useful.

Oh my god...I cannot believe myself for not writing a review on this fantastic place I have visited during last Dec/Jan with my boyfriend. Chris and Donna were very kind and amazing people, everything including the room, view, food (and the cute little doggy!) was simply beyond my expectation and I really wanted to just stay and live there forever...if... This is a fantastic place to stay! I can't speak highly enough of Crisdon Castle, my room is gorgeous, attention to detail is obvious, oh and the roman tiled bath... Candles and mood lighting :D and then there is the view! Beyond all expectations, and the owners are super cool and helpful, and that's why I keep coming back!!

My wife and I stayed at crisdon castle in jan this 2014. It was fantastic. The best b&b we had been too. Very private with a friendly atmosphere. The best view in Paihai, maybe NZ! we didn't want to leave. We have been dreaming of returning since the day we left, pity it's over the ditch for us! Only advice... More

A Castle in New Zealand! The idea of staying in a 'castle' was what first got my attention when I saw this on Wotif. It completely hit the spot with wonderfully designed rooms that have the grandeur you would expect from a Castle. The water views are the best we have found in New Zealand and are expansive even from... More
