I loved my stay here, it has a good location to the town centre and to the backpacker part of town. Room was great, kitchen was to be expected of a hostel, pool and common areas were good too, but the staff were so amazing. Let us borrow some towels, some salt when we were cooking, such nice people. But especially when friends and I asked at 10:30am what we could do that day because we didn’t have any plans and a lot of tours had left early, and the wonderful woman at the reception/travel desk booked us in for an island cruise and then sunset kayaking, ringing around for us, extending our time on the island, and she got us a great price too. I loved this hostel!

Fantastic assistance from the front desk team, even though it was very busy. Pool is a very popular asset and was well used by us all. Room was simple and tidy and kitchen kept well clean. Very close to everything you need!

Stayed for three nights whilst visiting the bay of islands and booked a private double room. The room was big and airy when the window and double glass door were open and the bed was comfy. Cleanliness was pretty good and the shower room for the doubles felt pretty homely. Only issue with the bathroom was other guests not leaving the toilet clean after going - gross! It’s not hard to be considerate of others when using a shared bathroom!!! The only downside was not being able to pop back for some quiet chill time before going out in the eve. Lots of loud music, chatting and drinking in the outdoor seating area until 10/11pm. Would’ve loved this 18-25 but after a couple of long days exploring Cape Reinga it was tricky if you wanted to get an early one!!! BUT saying that if you’re not in the crazy party mode just stay out until 10/11pm and it’ll be super chilled when you get back as the kitchen shuts at 10 so everyone moves on. I can imagine it’s a great place to stay if you’re a long termer or someone passing on through but staying for a week or two. Everyone was super friendly.

Friendly helpful staff. Room and bed are basic but warm and comfy. Kitchen is so clean and spacious. It was not busy in Paihia when I stay so didn't have to share with too many people. The lounge room is nice to chill in without smelling like food. The bathroom is very old, dirty looking and freezing cold (all high windows are open). They are planning for bathroom renovation and offer free towel to make up for the quality - much appreciate.

All of my friends told me when I get to Paihia make sure you stay at Bay Adventurer and they were right. They've got a bit of everything to make everyone happy. Dorms, doubles, private rooms, a sweet kitchen, pool, hot tub, and a great atmosphere. All the workers were fantastic in giving recommendations and setting me up with the best activities in town. Everyone I met there was super friendly. Definitely recommend staying here.
