Hi Centabay, I am a bit late with my review. I stayed and worked here in the summer of 2006. I dont low if Darren is still around, but he was great! I will never forget this place, I had the best time.

I stayed in a 4 bed dormitory for 2 nights. The room was pretty clean and the bathroom was ok. On our first day, the kitchen was a terrible mess but it got better in the next days. The inside probably needs refreshments, but the outdoor area is great - I really enjoyed spending time there. The place instantly gave... More

As a mature couple we found this backpackers lodge good value for money, our private room which had a small kitchen, toilet and shower was clean and comfortable. The communal areas were also kept clean. The manager Jack and the house keeping team run a tight ship! It was a great place to meet people who had travelled from across... More

The guesthouse us centrally located in Paihia and this makes it fairly easy to get around. the walls are quite thin though, so you can hear the next room. Although this was initially funny hearing them having sex it soon grew old! Showers were not the cleanest area. The shower mats were soaking and not changed in 3 days.

I stayed in a 4 bed dorm, maybe the private rooms are differently treated. According to my experiences with other hostels, this one was quite dirty: the shower curtain was molded (but got changed, when I told them), kitchen were towels very dirty (but they said they get changed twice a day...), the washbasins were stuffed (I made the cleaning... Very noisy place, could hear snoring and creaking floors all through the night from next door. Backpacker tv room and kitchen also right below. No hot water 3 out of 4 nights and appalling water pressure. $89 a night, with facilities but no soap and not serviced at all. Fans only in room and room always smelt stale and musty..... More

Had a great stay, friendly helpful staff, , king size bed was comfy nice little kitchenette, good bathroom. For the price my husband and I were surprised at the roominess, nice balcony out the front. Lovely and clean.

Went for a room with Ensuite. First impressions weren't good, but the room was musty and no amount of airing and fan was able to change that. The fan made for handy white noise to filter out surrounding room noise. Location was good and price was cheap, not that we had a huge choice on Waitangi weekend with a fairly... More

Such a great spot, friendly helpful staff. Kayaks and bikes for hire, great outdoor area to chill with a spa as well. We would stay here again, was nice and quiet as well the only thing was the pressure in our shower wasn't the greatest but didn't bother us to much.

I stayed here for a week in November. While the weekly rate was the cheapest around, the hostel was dirty and smelly. In a dorm room of 5 people, our floor was not vacuumed once and our bin was not emptied once, despite it overflowing. The kitchen smelled too. The management was friendly and the price cheap, but overall not... More
