The lodge is very beautiful and spacious in a quiet neighborhood close to the centre of Napier with its fine restaurants and art deco buidlings. Our stay was very comfortable and Yvonne was an ideal hostess looking after our every need.

New Zealand is my absolute favourite holiday destination, and McHardy Lodge in Napier should be high on your bucket list. This luxury property is perched high on a hill with most rooms having a panoramic view of Hawkes Bay, and it's been impeccably restored by Yvonne the owner. This was our second time in Napier, having been guests at McHardy... More

A turn-of-the-century private home that survived the 1932 earthquake with all of its charm restored. It's in a perfect location—an easy walk downtown to admire the Art Deco buildings and the view (it's on top of a hill) is superb. In fact, we chose one evening to sit out on the beautiful terrace with some cheese, bread, and a bottle... More

McHardy is a chintzy property personally supervised by owner Yvonne who was really helpful about local recommendations and outlined the quirky history of the building - a former maternity home. The breakfasts were superb and ours were cooked by Yvonne herself - delicious. As a base to explore the delights of Napier and Hawkes Bay, we could not recommend McHardy... More

A family occasion saw us heading to Napier for a weekend and a one night stay over. The city is very busy over Summer, so there were a lot of full properties. This special treat was worth every cent. McHardy Lodge is an impressive property from a former era. Yvonne welcomed us warmly and professionally. Even though our spacious room... More

We stayed at the McHardy Lodge with another couple. Both our rooms were first rate, lovely accommodations. The food was great and the service even better. Stayed here for one night as we made our way from Wellington to Lake Taupo.
