There are many positives, the facilities are great (although engaged signage on the bathroom doors would be helpful), they're a dog friendly site and the employees we spoke to were very helpful and friendly. We had tents and I don't recommend this site for pitching tents, the site is very rocky, we had a builder with us and even he struggled. There are prickles EVERYWHERE! So have some slip on shoes for convenience. Probably pretty good for a camper van or similar but not tents.

Response from Vicky Stewart, General Manager at Hawkes Bay Holiday Park
Responded Jan 28, 2021
Hi JessyMaca, Thank you for your feedback. It is unfortunate that our site is made up of reclaimed land from the earthquake in 1931, but unfortunately we have to work with what we have. We do offer mallets and strong tent pegs for guests to help them put up their tents and we do get a lot of tenters who are very happy. Nobody has ever made us aware that prickles are such an issue - so thank you for letting us know - we will be sure to spray for these in the future. Many thanks Vicky Owner

Superb, clean showers and loos; the host was super friendly and helpful, and the park is very dog-friendly, which helped us a lot. Close to the beach and next to the wetland for us bird-watchers.Really good-quality accommodation if you're there for one or several nights.

Great camp site, good size pitch with excellent facilities and dog friendly. Walking distance to the beach and short drive to some beautiful vineyards such as Church road and the Mission. We will certainly be back

A really good place to stay, close to the airport and amenities in Napier, also easy reach of the many vineyards all over Hawkes Bay! Very reasonable prices and extra kind & friendly staff here. Very clean ablutions with unlimited time on the hot showers. Also great kitchen, laundry and clothesline facilities. We have been travelling and staying in numerous parks throughout NZ... this is one of the best places and has a very nice ‘vibe’ along with beautiful Hawkes Bay weather! Very sad to leave. Thank you Vicky, Eddie, and Brenda for making us so welcome. Regards, Rob & Christina.

Had a wonderful stay at HB Holiday Park and can't wait to return. Really clean facilities with extra homely touches like music in the showers, and fresh flowers on the bathroom sinks. Friendly staff and the camp is lovely and quiet. (note we were in a tent too). Liked the fact that there are 2 different bathroom facilities available to use. Either the traditional male/female or unisex, which gave me the choice of using the ladies only option which is my personal preference for myself and daughters. The kids even got given chocolate Easter bunnies at the end of our stay. Thanks so much, Vicky and Co. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Such a nice campsite, great facilities. The kitchen and sitting area are great places to just chill and are always clean they also have lots of cooking stuff. You can hire bikes from here too $5per hour, we had them for most of the afternoon and they were $20. Couple who own the site are lovely and helpful. 100% recommend.

We had a caravan holiday at the park for 5 nights and it was most enjoyable. The owners and staff were very friendly, helpful and always willing to chat. Cleaning lady very nice to chat to and loved the compliments on her cleaning. Very clean and tidy. New shower and kitchen block with all the equipment you may need if camping, etc. Laundry facilites at low cost. Long term residents were friendly and welcoming. we were there for the Mission concert and faciliated excellent transfers from the campground to concert and return for a fee. We would definately stay here again.

The toilet, shower and kitchen facilities are second to none - well looked after and very clean. The owners are super lovely!! Location of the grounds is good, only 10 mins to town. Unfortunately it is in the airport flight path luckily no late night flights, however there are early morning flights and the road noise is easily heard in a tent- probably not an issue in a motorhome or caravan. The real let down was on our last night, one of the permanent residents (in the gypsy bus) played music all evening, which could even be heard in the kitchen, obviously they don’t care about others trying to relax!!
