My wife and I enthusiastically recommend Gerard's Mon Logis B&B. He is a cordial host and a wealth of information on Napier and surrounding areas. Gerard is also an accomplished chef producing melt in your mouth croissants and feathery light omelettes. The B&B has a interesting history - a survivor of the big 1930's earthquake it has had many lives...

Mon Logis is located on the Marine Parade facing Hawkes Bay. The upstairs rooms have a great view of the bay, boulevard and park. The room was comfortable and charming, the facilities were ensuite so privacy was preserved. Ask for a balcony room.

The owner, Gerard, was an amazing host to us the entire time. His breakfast is amazing, and the freshly baked croissants were to die for. (I stuffed myself silly each morning on them) The room was clean and the bed was really good, plus the lounge area is really cosy. My friend and I loved sitting there after our day...

Gerard welcomed us on arrival, the room was nice, clean and tidy with a comfortable bed. The breakfasts (we stayed two nights) were great as was the coffee. The location is ideal, easy walking distance to town and easy parking. We will be back. Thanks Gerard

Front the time we arrived until it was sadly time to depart Gerard made us feel welcome, was helpful and ran an excellent B&B. Would highly recommend. Mon Logis is on the seafront with excellent views but very little road noise even with windows open. Rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean. Tea/Coffee and biscuits always available in the tv...

We stayed two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Gerard was a wonderful host and made us feel most welcome. His breakfasts were superb and alone are worth going for. The B&B is quirky but this adds to the charm and makes for a great stay. We would definitely go again.

Run by a forthright Frenchman (came to NZ to play rugby, and stayed), Mon Logis is comfortable and central. Our room was sizeable and comfortable, with an en suite bathroom. Breakfast was included in the price, was well and freshly cooked by the owner, who then joined in our conversation. Coffee was made to order and our allergy to kiwi...

Mon Logis is in a great location close to town and while right on the waterfront is not noisy at night. Gerard is a wonderful host and concerned to make sure you enjoy your visit to Napier. He provides an excellent breakfast of French style and with an omelette included it keeps you going all day. The rooms are very...

We stayed two days in Mon Logis B&B in this month. Its location is excellent, on Marine Parade. We stayed in 'Rosebank' room which has very nice sea view. The owner Gerard is a nice person and has a sense of humor. He prepares very good breakfast and makes very delicious omelette. You don't really need lunch after the breakfast....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mon Logis Luxury Bed & Breakfast Marine Parade Napier, New Zealand. A little Piece of France nestled in the heart of the beautiful wine growing region of Hawke's Bay. Originally built as an English Terrace house in the 1860's, this colonial Building was extended into a private hotel. Only a few minutes walk to the city centre, this grand two story colonial villa overlooking the Pacific ocean has a fascinating history as a private hotel since the early 1900's. Mon Logis is one of the building who survive the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake. In 1991, it became Mon Logis, meaning "My Dwelling." Now lovingly renovated, Mon Logis will cater to a maximum of eight guests and is modeled on the small privately owned French hotel. Charming personal service and French cuisine are the specialties. Of the upstairs individually furnished rooms, two have queen size beds and two have twin beds and all have their own private facilities. Owner Frenchman Gerard decorated each guest room differently but in a style in keeping with the original charm of the building. Iron bedsteads, feather duvets, lace covers and fine cotton linen all create a special elegance and one room is totally furnished with pieces bought from France. Downstairs an informal guest lounge invites relaxation, television viewing, a quiet time reading or perhaps a game of chess or bridge. Guests can help themselves to coffee or tea and biscuits any time of the day. Breakfast, served in the privacy of your own room or downstairs dining room, could be a basket of freshly baked continental breads, croissants and brioche with a compote of locally grown fruits or a wonderful herb omelette, crispy bacon and grilled tomatoes. Whichever is chosen certainly promises to be a most memorable meal. However, should the choice be made to dine out, Gerard is happy to give recommendations and as guide competent in giving an insight into Napier's unique architecture. All perfectly designed for comfort and relaxation, Mon Logis is a non smoking establishment and does not cater for children. French and Spanish are spoken; exclusive customised vineyard tour with host by arrangement. " Mon Logis is casual elegance at a price you can afford." ... more   less
