To the English ear, the word “Lodge” may be a source of uncertainty. A ski chalet in Colorado? A youth hostel? Those from England who have dined in the Lake District will be familiar with the Country House Hotel. The New Zealand Lodge is exactly that. Our stay at Breckenridge Lodge in Hawkes Bay, on the recommendation of friends, was... More

My husband and I spent three wonderful nights at Breckenridge Lodge in March. Our room, while not large, was comfortable and cozy with a view over the vineyards. The "surprise" was first, the availability of dinner at the Lodge and second, how delicious it was! We arrived after a rather harrowing drive from Lake Taupo. Beautiful countryside, no traffic, but... More

We spent two days at Breckenridge in February. What a fabulous lodge set in a quiet rural spot. Ellie and Malcolm made us very welcome on arrival. Our beautiful room with balcony overlooking the vineyards and distant views was exceptional. The food and wine and attention to detail were amazing. All enhanced by good company both nights over our meal... More

This Lodge is fabulous, we stayed for four nights and have nothing but great thing to say about it. Malcolm and Ellie were outside to welcome us as soon as we parked and were as attentive throughout our stay, nothing really is too much trouble. Our room was very attractive with a patio and views of the vineyard and was... More

It was a great privilege last week to spend two days at Breckenridge Lodge. Our room cost included breakfast and dinner. Malcolm's cuisine was exquisite. Portion size control was perfect, allowing us to experience several courses with fabulous flavours using fresh local produce including their own garden. Over the two days we loved every single course. Wine matches from local... More

This is a perfect place to stay. The owner Malcolm has set up something pretty special here. It is rare to find such a wonderful setting with the added advantage of superb food and wines. Both Ellie and Malcolm cannot do enough to make the stay wonderful. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with fabulous views of the vineyard.... More
