excellent. The bed was comfortable, the room was spacious, clean and well stocked with kitchen items and plenty of towels. Very quiet and the host was charming. Also gave a very good recommendation for a dinner spot. If we find ourselves in Napier again this will be our first pick

Exactly what we needed. The room was warm, beds were comfortable and the bathroom & shower were great. Electric blankets and plenty of towels showed an understanding of what makes guests feel well cared for. Management made allowances for out late arrival.

Great spacious room, bathroom hot tub was awesome 👌. The owners were easy to approach. Piece and quite was what we seeked, a place to just be chill 😎 .
The daily cleaning staff where great to, and very accommodating, asking if there where any things we needed.
Just a well run great place to be.

I very rarely write reviews, and on the few times I have it's been to rave about good things. However, in this case, I am because for what we paid I think we've had much better in many parts of the country for at least $70 to $100 less per night. We've stayed in Napier quite a few times and this time picked this place due to spa in room and location, both of which 'stunk' for separate reasons. Read on if you're concerned.

First impressions count. At reception arrival I received a 'yes' only greeting, On saying I was there to checkin (although probably obvious), they went to computer, told me my room number and asked do we charge to the card provided earlier, (plus do you want milk). No feeling of welcome or hope you have a good stay. There was a strong stench in the air outside, and I asked what may be causing that. Reply was dismissive in tone, saying "I've noticed that in the last week or so and think it's the estuary due to warmer temperatures." Likely it was the very nearby estaury, but I'd suggest this smell could occur whenever it's low tide and the wind direction crossed.
On entering the (front of property) room, door was slightly jammed and required a good shove every time thereafter to open, room was stuffy, air con seemed to have a mind of it's own jumping in and out of phases, window latches in bathroom and bedroom damaged to point could not close fully, fridge door rack missing altogether with broken internal attachment points where should have been, and spa bath controls sealed to lock in one pressure position only that was next to non-functional jets. Hence we didn't even try to use it after the first night.
We stayed three days and our daughter's bed in the lounge area service was simply a pull-up of the top blanket, the bed itself underneath not remade at all. I went to put some food items on top of the kitchen cupboards but checked cleanliness first and on rubbing my finger across collected a dark layer of dust, plus the vent in the bathroom was thick with dust and obviously not even wipped for some time, not a good look when on the toilet or underneath it in the bath or shower.
I appreciate the hospitality industry is struggling with staffing shortages currently, but we will not stay here again, and wouldn't want others to be so disappointed on an important family getaway either. Basically, we avoided the place and only come back to sleep.

We were in a street facing room, that had parking right outside the door. The room was was very clean and spacious and came with all the basic kitchen essentials you would need to prepare food.
Although the spa bath is a great option to have, you need to take caution when entering and exiting the bath to shower. Could be quite hazardous if you were to slip. The bath surround is quite high, we had to aid our 7 year old to get in and out and took caution ourselves. Maybe a hand rail would assist with safer access.
The room itself was a bit aged but very clean. Unfortunately we discovered a wood roach on the bed in the main bedroom. We have problems with these in our own home and knew this did not have a reflection on the cleanliness and hygiene of the room. That said we stripped both beds to make sure there weren't any lingering in the sheets.
Housekeeping was good after the first night but the 2nd morning they presented as we were preparing to head out and requested if we needed any towels and for us to gather and handover the rubbish bags from the kitchen and bathroom. We advised that we would be a further 15mins and the room would be available for servicing. Given it wasn't even 10am, we thought this was a reasonable request.
I placed the door handle sign requesting service when we left but when we returned the beds were still unmade and it seemed that they had only vacuumed the floor and nothing else.

We stayed in room 13 for 5 nights and although the location suited us we wish we had only paid in advance for 1 night so we could have found somewhere better for the other 4 nights.
There was only a very small coffee table to have breakfast on, no armchairs or settee, the carpet was grubby and overall the decor was tired. There was a very bright light right outside the door that flooded the room with light until 4.00am. When we asked the owner if the light timer could be changed to switch off at 10 or 11pm it said tht it couldn't be done! He said that he would remove the bulb instead - but he never did it so we had to get used to the room not being dark for sleep.
We would not stay at Fairley again.

The hotel is located a short drive from the city center. Our studio was a good size with a kitchenette and a large bathroom with a shower above the spa. There was also a private courtyard. The TV had Sky channels and the Wi-Fi worked well. It was very quiet at night. There’s parking outside your unit. Overall, we had a good stay. No complaints.

The unit and facilities were excellent and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen. The location, near the estuary, was wonderful - we were able to enjoy a couple of long bird-watching walks. It was also convenient to have access to laundry facilities.

The property owner changed our room without consulting us. We were booked into a Premier One Bedroom Apartment, which we have stayed in before, and he chose to put us in a standard One Bedroom room, which was cheaper, and not up to the standard we expected. This has happened to us before at the same property.
The room appeared clean, but on closer inspection many things were broken, and it needs an overhaul. It has had a lot of occupancy, and is tired!

Affordable comfort, in a great location that is on the outskirts of town, sandwich between the sea front and a nature reserve that connect with the Napier cycle ways. Perfect for running and walking locally, or cycling into town or the vineyards. The room was comfortable and spacious with basic facilities and servicing was very good. Several restaurants and bars are a short walk away making for easy evening entertainment.

Probably, both both room types would be big enough for 4 adults, two children, but it would be your preferred bedding arrangements which will determine what room you choose. The bedding configuration of each room type is as follows: a) Executive 2 bedrm, has a queen bed in each of the two bedrooms plus a pullout divan bed in the lounge area. The divan bed can also sleep two persons, and this bed can be easily folded away during the day. b) Two bedrm unit has 1 queen bed in first bedrm, and in the second bedrm there are two single beds. Again there is a pullout divan bed in the lounge area. Personally I would not recommend two adults to share the divan bed. The bed base support is not strong enough to prevent both larger and heavier adults from rolling together. It maybe a better option to have one adult couple in a studio room by themselves. Approach us directly and I am sure we could provide an attractive and competitive pricing option for your group once we know the bedding required for all members of your group. Cheers,Hugh.
