This place has a old school charm to it that is quirky but could do with some updating. Lovely view across Hicks bay but vegetation could do with a trim to make more of the view for the rooms. Our room was clean and tidy but quite dated, window was stuck closed so quite hot at night. Loved the glow...

Whatever you do , plan your East Cape journey of the North Island of New Zealand carefully . I'm a very keen motorcyclist and have ridden extensively throughout my country many many times , the east cape being one of them. Recently my partner and I rode from Hastings on route to Tauranga (our home) and I'd planned the East...

This is the 2nd time staying at this Motel and unfortunately nothing has changed since the last visit 1 year ago.Very dated and not very well maintained. Unit for 5 people,1 toilet roll, 4 towels, not enough utensils/crockery for 5. 4 chairs, yet found a stool to make the 5th seat, however, this stool was holding the back of the...

Dated and needs lots of work. Had to wait until after 3.30 for room to be ready. Very basic but adequate for short stay over. Restaurant food ok but overpriced. Lots of flies and mosquitoes but no fly spray provided. Staff friendly and pleasant.

Served a purpose. Felt it was a little over priced for what was on offer. But they did allow us to keep the dog. I rang and checked and got the OK but when I called to confirm. They were unaware, but agreed for her to stay. Front desk staff while OK, were a little remote and not very forthcoming....

We had been tenting in the days prior and this time we wanted a proper bed.. nice, affordable and quiet. My only complaint was the weather. A nice short walk or drive to the beach and historic wharf gave you a stretch of the legs.

This is an old fashioned motel that (in our case) seemed to be maintained to a basic tidy standard, without much amenities. The bathroom is probably the worst part with a dark shower with only a curtain, a plain sink with little space or light, and only soap - no shampoo or body wash. The main part of the room...

Our rooms view was blocked by a tree. Room was hot and we could hear the rooms each side of us. Rooms very dated. The vegetation would have impacted on all of the motel rooms views. Restaurant was over priced. Staff were friendly and polite.

The East Cape is a different world where very few businesses are equivalent to places that enjoy more population and visitors. We checked out the few accommodation options available and chose this motel. They have done a great job refurbishing the 1960's units. The place was clean and the beds comfortable. Our unit was small in the bathroom area and...

With not much else to choose from we stayed here one night. The best thing was we chose a room with a view which was nice overlooking the beach ( in the distance). The bed was like a trampoline and the room so stuffy and hot. Could not leave a window open because of the mozzies that were everywhere, and...
