We had 2 nights here, the staff were lovely and the location was great and the complimentary breakfast was good too. But the level of cleanliness was rather gross, the sink was dirty as the floors were also and the light switches were filthy and dark and dirty. But moving the chairs to get out to the balcony the chairs had old vomit stuck to them which was so so disgusting. Good value for money and you get what you pay for but that was really gross.

We stayed as a family with our 6 year old twin boys. Having read the other reviews after we had booked we had our concerns. Upon arrival our check in was easy and the staff were friendly. I didn’t want the hotel to take a photocopy of my credit card (this is not secure). This was fine when I mentioned why to the hotel staff. As stated in the booking terms they then requested a $250.00 cash bond which we were happy to pay. We were located on the 8th floor which has a good view. The rooms are dated and the carpet really needs to be replaced it’s clearly beyond cleaning. The furniture is also a little old. However the beds were comfortable and bedding was clean & fresh. There was a little bit of noise especially as the apartments are next to the police station - where the cars come out with lights and sirens. But this is a central city apartment so noise is to be expected. We paid for the parking at the hotel at $30.00 per night as this is far cheaper than any other parking at Wilson car park nearby. The car park is tight and you do have to leave your keys with reception if you block anyone in - which is understandable. The light breakfast was very much appreciated when you have young boys hungry as soon as they wake. The breakfast was plenty for us. The rooms were not dirty but could have done with a thorough clean to keep on top of things. For example skirtings , plug switches and light switches cleaned. It did state there was a dryer in the room but we only had a washing machine- which we didn’t use. Upon check out our room was checked before the $250.00 deposit was paid back to us - no issue and we were given the cash back. Overall I would give the apartments a 3 star rating in its current condition.

It is very clear on our website and all other 3rd party websites that a credit card and a valid photo I.D is a requirement upon check in at our property. Further, when a credit card is not available a cash bond will be a requirement upon check in for any incidental charges that may apply during your stay with us. When a credit card is presented no cash bond is required. Please note that this is an industry standard and not property specific. Most properties in fact do not allow cash bonds and instead have the simple requirement that a credit card is a must. Kindly note that he issue which was raised in your feedback that will help us to improve as a property. I have passed on your recommendations and feedback to the relevant department heads to address. I stayed here with my family on two separate occasions. Told to find parking elsewhere and drove around with a screaming baby for an hour. Rooms are old. Black hair in our sink and shower. No plug for the sink. Went to leave and someone had parked us in in the car space the motel staff ended up providing for $30 a night. Never again and I am usually very easy pleased.

My wife and I arrived shattered from the flight from Rarotonga that lands in Auckland 4.30 AM. We had booked the VR Auckland soon after landing. Reason that theVR appealed was their price and the location. A most pleasant young lady on reception could see we were washed out at 10.00AM when we arrived and arranged for a room to be ready for us immediately. The room was ground floor and exceeded our expectation - bright, good bed, kitchen and excellent shower. Our booking included a continental breakfast that was pretty standard but a good start to the day. We have travelled quite a lot and we both agree that this hotel, while not being all glitzy, is the best value we have ever had with staff who went out of their way to help us (taxis, baggage storage and suggestions) Thoroughly recommended. I decided to gift my brother a night in this hotel, but because my credit card didn't match the guest name, they wanted me to send photos of both sides of my credit card and photo ID to their email. When I pointed out that it was seriously dodgy, they agreed to let my brother show them the photos of the card, and I sent them an email authorising his use - even then when he went to check in, they tries to get a $250 cash bond from him because he didnt have my card. Literally just wanted him to stay one night and have never had so much trouble trying to pay for something in my life!
