Charges for WIFI - and the connection is terrible. Inflates accomodation charges over the weekend just "because everyone else does it". It would be worth it if it was clean and tidy but it's a backpackers so charge accordingly!

The hostel is good located close to the sky tower which is great! We had a double room without window. The room was quite spacious but unfortunately not so clean! We found a long black hair in our bed which didn't belong to us. In the bathroom there was water all over the floor which was coming from the leaking... More

We had a double room which didn't have a window, which was the worst thing ever, got really hot and have no concept of time. Seems ridiculous that you have to pay more just for a window. People were alright, not really that friendly. Only good thing is that it's cheap and you can drink your own booze. Don't think... More

I booked a bed at this hostel a few days before arriving and when I got there they had no idea about my booking! It was already nearly midnight as I'd arrived on a late flight and I wanted to get out and enjoy my Saturday night! Instead it took them over an hour to just find me a bed.... More

Like most young travellers, I've spent my share of time in Good and bad hostels all over the world. Unfortunately my experience at "Surf n Snow" was particularly awful. In fact, it may have been the worst hostel I've visited while in a developed country. With that being said, the bathrooms were kept reasonably clean and tolerable, but the appliances... More

So Pro first: We arrived at 2am after flying in from KL. The guy who checked use in was fantastic! Really friendly and super helpful. The people the next day were helpful too and allowed us to leave our bags in the hostel while we sorted out a load of stuff through out the day. Cons: We paid for a... More

I wish I could give this less stars but 1 seems to be the minimum. Firstly, we arrived after booking well in advance and were told that we couldnt stay in a room together (I had specifically asked and booked a room big enough for our group to share), this shouldnt be an option on booking if they're then going... It is located very close to the city center. Convenient to the supermarkets, restaurants, sky towel and Queen street that is the main street in Auckland. Also, people are really nice, friendly helpful. I really enjoyed while I am staying here :)

The location is excellent just 2 min away from Queen st (main road in Auckland. Staff is very friendly and always keen to help. Bathroom is clean and new. And its not a dry hostel which means that you can buy your own alcohol and have there. its a good deal for backpackers because in Auckland one beer cost minimum... More
