Sadly this hotel is not what I remembered from previous visits. Just lacked strong consistent friendly service and seemed to also lack energy. Just trying to sort laundry was difficult and for what you expect … it just let down. Location is great but need more from a hotel of this calibre.

I was concerned before the trip that I might be paying top dollar for average service, but in fact the opposite was true...I paid a reasonable price for 5 ⭐️ experience. It started while walking up to the front door as we were schlepping our bags from the nearby bus station. The doormen came rushing out to help us and made us feel welcome. Even though it was early, only 7:20am, the front office staff coordinated with housekeeping to get us a premium room cleaned and we were in our room by 10 am. Nice job! Our room was spacious, except for the shower which was cramped. Bed had just the right amount of firmness both both my wife and I and as it was king size, we had plenty of room. Location is great. You are in the heart of the CBD and can walk to many sites. It is connected via sky bridge to the casino so you won't even have to get wet. I wholeheartedly recommend this well run hotel.

Stayed over kings birthday weekend for a birthday girls trip. From our arrival the staff were so welcoming offering to take our photo and hyping us up on our trip, big thanks to Tai and Freddy who made an outstanding first impression. Also big thanks and shout out to Christy at reception. She was so helpful and anytime we had a request she was more than happy to assist. She does a great job at making you feel taken care of on your trip. We had an amazing stay here the room was so comfortable, the whole experience was so relaxing, will definitely be back.

This hotel has many good points. The rooms and spaces are very nice, but for a 5 star it fails. A 5 star hotel must offer room service but my phone was out of order and in spite of several requests, it was never fixed. One day the cleaner only did half a job - not making the bed properly and not emptying the bins. The restaurant also wasn't open as often as it should be - no lunch, one evening closed, with no explanation. Piped music is everywhere in the hotel which gets incredibly grating. The bathroom magnifying mirror wasn't fixed properly and the lighting poor for both this and the main mirror. Don't bathroom designers understand thay most ppl need very bright mirror light? The staff were pleasant.

I did not actually get to stay because of the flooding in Auckland. The advice from Auckland Council was to avoid travel and stay home. Unfortunately the hotel takes a different view and they expect you to travel under a state of emergency. After several calls to the hotel and through my travel agent they would not budge in cancelling the reservation or moving the dates. If you are travelling for business, DO NOT BOOK this hotel as they are not interested in partnering to deliver a positive outcome. I will avoid the hotel on my regular trips to Auckland in the future.

For a 5 star hotel, you do get 3 star service and facilities. We booked 2 rooms for a family overnight trip to Auckland. Lets start with what we liked - Access to the Sky city building via the interbuilding bridge from the hotel was cool. Given the wet weather, glad we did not have to cross the street outdoors. The in-room toilletries were nice. Liked the 2 double beds in each room. Friendly front house staff. What we did not like - Check-in was not ready at 3pm and we were told the exact same things the 2 other guests checking in at the same time were; "your rooms are not ready". Very noisy in both the rooms which were on separate floors, we could hear every door close in the rooms beside us and conversations by people walking past our rooms. The twin rooms dont even have space for a small sofa, so you cannot even seat people (especially when your second room is not ready and you need to bundle 5 people into 1 room while you wait for keys to your second room) 24 hours later, am yet to receive a copy of the bill. If you are keen to have a meal at the sky city Orbit restaurant, make sure you book well in advance of your stay, we tried with 1 weeks notice but had no luck. Also very hard to get someone on the phone when you call to try and make a booking. Maybe try 3 or 4 weeks before. They are looking to move to self service kiosks, so even less likely to get someone on the phone or in person in the future. If you are coming for an experience of the Sky City Tower and its amenities, I would suggest staying elsewhere in the city and just visit the place like you would any other attraction. Maybe my expectations are a bit to high, but having stayed at multiple 5 star hotels across the globe, I know whats worth your money.
